I Don't Know My ABC's - Won't You Help Me Learn Them Please?
Funded Mar 18, 2012Thank you so much for donating to this project and to our classroom! I can't even tell you what an impact these centers have had already this year in the short time we have had them! The kids love "playing" the different games during literacy centers. They have been working hard to learn their alphabet and these bright, fun materials are getting them excited in a new way! The students love that they are hands on - they think they are "playing". I know that they are "learning"!
We cannot thank you enough for all the fun and learning that is going on because of your donations!”

Super Stampers!
Funded Mar 19, 2012Thank you so much for donating to this project and to our classroom! I can't even tell you what an impact these materials have had already this year in the short time we have had them! Our old stamps were much too small for my little ones hands, and our ink pads were all worn out. Our new ink pads are much larger and hold much more ink. They also have better lids so they won't dry out. My students are able to use the new stamps much easier because they fit in their hands. The kids love using the stamps during literacy centers to practice beginning/middle/ending sounds, sight words, rhyming words, and to make new words!

Math Motivators
Funded Mar 8, 2012Thank you so much for donating to this project and to our classroom! I can't even tell you what an impact these centers have had already this year in the short time we have had them! The kids love "playing" the different games during math centers. They have been working hard on one-to-one correspondence, patterns and addition. The centers are wonderfully diverse in skill level so we will be able to use them all year long to enhance the math skills we are working on. The students love how the different themes correlate with the themes we are doing in class. Lady bugs during our insect unit, airplanes during our transportation unit, etc.

Thinking and Inking
Funded Dec 16, 2011Thank you so much for donating to this project and to our classroom! My husband got it all set up and the kids have been having a blast learning how to turn their written work into published, printed stories! We had previously learned to write, edit & publish, but the kids are so excited to now have their published work turned into books instead of handwritten copies. They love using the computer to type in their story and title. Then they illustrate the pages before I bind the books together.
We've created a separate section in our library for the books that our class has authored. These books are always the favorites that the kids love to read over and over. They take such pride in reading the stories they have written and that their classmates have written.
I know their creativity will continue to blossom thanks to your generosity. ”

On the Rug, Ladybug
Funded Aug 29, 2011Thank you so much for donating to this project and to our classroom! I can't even tell you what an impact this rug has had already this year in the 2 short months we have had it! I am the envy of the hall! Every child in my room has their own square. They know they must sit in their square only and anything they bring to the carpet must stay in their square with them. This has cut down on so much whining and tattling! Having physical boundaries helps the children keep their hands to themselves and know just how much room to take without "squishing" someone else. Concentration is on the rise and the students pay much better attention now that those distractions are minimized. The number of hitting/kicking/etc. incidents is on the decline as well as all body parts must now stay in their own square :)
The kids enjoy sitting on their new clean rug to listen to stories, sing songs, and learn about all kinds of things like motion, maps, energy, addition, patterns, Thanksgiving, and gingerbread men, just to name a few! Having color rows cuts down on dismissal headaches as well. The kids love working together to be the first row ready and there for the first team dismissed.
In the six years I've been teaching this is the best "supply" we've ever received!”
