Classroom Classics
Funded Mar 25, 2013Thank you so much for supporting this project and my students! They are so excited when new books on cd arrive in our classroom. The listening center has quickly become one of their favorite rotations during Daily 5 time thanks to these wonderful new books.
The students absolutely adore being able to choose their own story and then having it read to them. They are able to practice their concepts of print such as one-to-one word correspondence, left to right reading, and return sweep as well as improve their fluency as they read along.
We cannot thank you enough for all the fun and learning that is going on because of your donations!”

Funded Mar 13, 2013Thank you so much for donating to this project and to our classroom! In the short time we've had them, these games have become instant hits! The students ask every day if we can use them again. The kids absolutely LOVE "playing" with the magnet games during literacy centers. The games are providing wonderful support for my students in a very fun way! They have been working on the alphabet, beginning & ending sounds, sight words, word families & syllables. The centers are wonderfully diverse in skill level so we will be able to use them all year long to enhance the phonics skills we are working on.

Funded Dec 21, 2012Thank you so much for supporting this project and my little learners. In a world of budget cuts the arts are quickly the first to go. This is so sad because research shows us that music and the arts have such a profound impact on student achievement!
My students have been practicing their blending, segmenting and syllables with the use of the rhythm stick cd and bean bags. We've been able to practice many musical education standards as well such as tempo and keeping a beat. We've even integrated them into other subjects, such as using the bean bags to understand how penguins carry their eggs on their feet!

Funded Feb 6, 2013Thank you so much for supporting this project and my students. They were SO excited when I set up our new listening center and taught them how to use it! The listening center has quickly become a very favorite center during our daily 5 rotations.
The students love being able to pick out their own book and accompanying cd and setting it all up before settling in to listen to a wonderful story. Independence is so crucial at this age for student to feel successful and these sturdy, age-appropriate resources allow them to be just that.

Funded Oct 22, 2012Thank you so much for donating to this project and to our classroom! I can't even tell you how much fun we have been having with our life cycle materials! We recently started our plant unit and have been able to use the sequencing stamps as well as many of the books pertaining to plants.
The students were so excited to be able to plant a seed in their own personal greenhouse and hang it on the window to grow. I wish you could be in our classroom to see the joy in my students eyes when they walk in each morning and head straight to their own greenhouse to see if their bean seed has sprouted or grown since they left the day before.
