First graders are in school for almost seven hours a day and they get one 30 minute recess each day. As a teacher, I try to make my lessons as hands-on as I can but for a six-year-old asking them to sit for longer than 20 minutes is just not fair to them!
These excited learners need to wiggle and move as they learn! Imagine these cute little first graders at tables working on learning games and activities and while they work they can rock back and forth and twist side to side. Movement helps them focus and engages them in the work!
Have you ever watched a child as they focus? They hum, rock, touch things, and fully engage when they are given the opportunity. Please help me give this gift of movement to my wonderful first graders. They deserve it!
