These materials will help some of New York City's newest learners. Many of my students are brand new to the United States. As their ENL provider, I feel it is my obligation to make them feel as supported as possible. With your donation, these books and other learning materials will help support lesson plans centered around a main idea: my students are special, they’re important and they can be anything they want to be when they grow up. Much of the learning materials provided are extremely vague and do not encourage the students to embrace who they are as a learner and as a person. I feel it is important for my students to read books about celebrations they observe, color with markers that resemble their skin tones, and overall, be within an environment that shows them that their school values them.
