I am overjoyed to start the academic year with these supplies just as we begin the new school year! I am confident my students will have the essential items they need as they learn to become more developed readers and writers, all while unleashing their creativity.

    Thank you for your donation!!”

  • All in for Incentives!

    Funded Nov 29, 2022

I truly can't thank you enough for your generous gift to our project. Your support will allow me to continue providing resources to my students who live in a community who need them most.

Students have responded so positively and are motivated to receive any of the cool incentives I now have for them to choose from. People like you truly make a difference in the world, and we're incredibly grateful for your generosity. Thanks to you I feel not only supported, but encouraged, to create enriching high-quality experiences for the population I serve.”

  • STEM Is the Solution!

    Funded Oct 7, 2023

These tools have inspired students to generate scientific questions! Even students that often say they don't have any questions are asking questions! Science is now funner than it has ever been and students are exploring and enjoying it! They have helped my English language learners and diverse learners to grasp new concepts.

Students use the manipulatives in pairs, and sometimes independently. At times, they have a task card with a specific task or challenge to complete,

We are so happy to have this addition to our classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Rios-Travers

    Funded Jun 2, 2022

I cannot begin to express how grateful I am for the wonderful materials I have received thanks to your donations. With those resources I have created a wonderful, welcoming classroom environment which my students can proudly call home. The soothing, neutral color palette creates a sense of peace and security and has encouraged students to take pride in their classroom environment. The new classroom decor sends a positive message to all students that they are welcome and belong in our classroom space.”

  • Staying Fit While Having FUN!

    Funded Apr 7, 2022

Thank you for your generous donation of PE equipment to my 5th grade students. It really made a difference for the children in our community. They are much more excited to go out and play. There is substantial evidence that physical activity can help improve academic achievement, including grades and standardized test scores.

Thanks to you, the students have safe and new PE equipment to use. We can now play soccer and a variety of other games with the dodgeballs that we received.

Thank you again for your ongoing support of our kids! We can't thank you enough.”

    With gratitude,

Thank you to everyone to help fund this project in my classroom and for helping these students have the best art-related experiences possible.

Thank you for everything these energetic students deserve to benefit from all the exciting possible projects they can create. I look forward to filling the classroom environment with beautiful, artistic work.”

  • Mind Exercise With A Good Book!

    Funded Dec 21, 2019

I join my students in thanking you for the generous donation of books to my 6th grade classroom. The students could not wait for me to unpack all the books, they even helped me put them away! This donation is even more important for my young readers because I was able to buy books at more advanced guided reading levels. This resulted in students moving several guided reading levels in a short amount of time. It's the best feeling ensuring that students have access to high quality text at their appropriate guided reading level.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Rios-Travers

  • We are Creative! We are Learning! We are Prepared!

    Funded Jul 26, 2018

I am grateful for your generous donations for school supplies for my 6th graders! Having access to the necessary materials needed for my students has inspired me to be more creative and design projects and lessons where we use our newfound resources.

The feeling of providing my students with what they need and more is priceless and keeps my classroom instruction fresh, fun, and invigorating.

Knowing I have support not only within my school community but elsewhere too is a great feeling!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Rios-Travers

  • Books As Far As The Eye Can See!

    Funded Jan 19, 2019

One of the MOST necessary items in my classroom are books, yet they are the most costly resource to acquire. With your help, I was able to turn my limited classroom library resources into an ample variety of books for my 6th grade students. I added books which are more tuned in to current issues and are of higher interest to their age group!

I can honestly say that I have noticed a great, positive change with my student's reading habits this year and it is all thanks to your generosity! My students can't get enough and are continually making their rounds to my classroom library!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Rios-Travers

  • The readers of today are the leaders of tomorrow!

    Funded Feb 5, 2017

Having the Scholastic News magazine accessible to my students has been a blessing! It has quickly become one of their favorite in-class activities and I often see them engaged, all while learning about current events.

Each week, students receive a new magazine and they have been an integral part of my teaching, where we can review sequence, cause and effect, problem and solution, among many other valuable skills all readers should have.

Even my reluctant readers light up when they see we have received a new issue! Thank you for your generosity which has allowed me to provide a fun and engaging learning opportunity for my students!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Rios-Travers

My fifth grade class is eager to share their thoughts, experiences, and ideas through writing. The reality is that for some, writing serves as an outlet where they can share experiences they need to get off their chest. Life experiences that a ten year old child should not have to face. My school is located in a low-income, high poverty community in graffiti-ridden surroundings. I know this area well because it is where I grew up. This has helped establish trust and rapport with my students so when I give them that little extra push, they know that I was once in their shoes. Yet, when students are given the opportunity to write, they can be transported from their surroundings, forget about what may be bothering them at home or on the walk home from school. Through the Common Core Standards my students are asked to meet high expectations, especially in writing.
