Reading is the essential for all learners and what better way to do that than get my students real life articles and materials! I want to provide my students with a chance to have articles to use for all subjects in the classroom. These subscriptions would just this and we would get a chance to read it every month! Using the subscription like Storyworks Jr could be very beneficial for referencing examples of Nonfiction reading in class. My fourth graders are great with Fiction but when it comes to Nonfiction, this can help with skills like Inferring, Summarizing, and Predicting. In Science & Social Studies, these magazines and books can be used to help get more insight on topics that we cover. Social Studies is often a subject that the textbook is not updated, the Scholastic Subscriptions would provide an updated historical facts and etc. In addition, this will allow students to become more accustomed to what magazines and articles look like because in the 21st Century now, they rarely have tangible reading materials. Overall, please help my class become better readers by providing great materials monthly!
