My students beautifully reflect the city in which our school is located. They are a very diverse group of students representing a wide variety of cultures. Many of my students have recently joined our community from other countries and do not speak English in their homes with their families. Some of these students are learning to speak English for the first time in their lives as middle school students.
Over 70% of my students receive free or reduced lunch based on their family's income level. However, based on the struggles that many of the students face at home, they know that they are completely supported by their family at school. The teachers, staff, and administration work together with the students, their families, and the members of the community to continuously improve the students' lives.
With all of their cultural differences, the students at my school are very happy and easy going. They enjoy challenges in their education and are excited to learn on a daily basis.
