Reading, Reading, Reading
Funded May 14, 2014THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! My students were extremely excited when we opened the boxes with our Kindles in them! Their eyes lit up with wonder! They were amazed that people they didn't even know believed in them enough to donate money, so they could have a tool, to help them become fluent readers! We talk daily about being a fluent reader and one child said, " I will reach my goal of being a fluent reader using those!"
We are using them to help us build our fluency! We know that when you read fluently, comprehension follows. My students and I talk daily about what makes a fluent reader and one of the best strategies is to read, read, read! The Kindles will be shared among the 54 students I have during our independent reading time. Everyone will have a chance to read a book or story of their choice during the year.
I have seen an interest and a willingness to want to read more, especially from my reluctant readers! I have noticed the fluency and accuracy rates of the students are improving. It has made my job just a little easier-they are becoming life-long lovers of reading! What a joy that it is to see!
So once again, THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts! THANK YOU for believing in us!”

Listening: On the Road to Fluency and Comprehension
Funded Dec 7, 2012I just want to thank you for your generous donation. The listening center and books on tape have been a wonderful addition to our classroom. The students clamor to listen to the books we have every day. I have noticed an increase in their fluency and their comprehension. I attribute that to the fact that they get to listen to stories where the reader is fluent.
We use the center everyday! When we received it, the students helped get it set up. They were so excited! They say " O,Thank you so very much!"”
With gratitude,

Candid Camera Shots Through the Year
Funded Aug 29, 2012This is just a small token of our appreciation for your generosity in funding our project. The camera and memory card came just at the right time. It came the day before we went on our first field trip. My students loved taking pictures of their friends as we explored the Children's Museum. We took over 100 pictures of students from K-2. Students also took pictures when we went to the pumpkin farm in October. I have included some of the pictures they have taken.
Our school has a camera that is so old it still uses floppy disks to save pictures. This will provide our school with sharp, beautiful pictures for our yearbook. We will also be able to give the pictures to the children so they memories of their school life. My students have become so excited about taking the pictures and writing captions to go with them. We post them outside of our room so the whole school can see them!
Without donors like, you thousands of children would go without. So from the bottom of my heart and my students' hearts, we thank you!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Regalski
