My favorite memory from school was when I was in the sixth grade and my teacher had a claw foot tub that we could get the opportunity to read in. This memory sticks out and is associated with furniture and flexible seating. These are memories that I want my students to be able to share in as well. When I work at home, I want to be comfortable. When I think of comfort, I do not think of a traditional desk. I want my students to walk into the room and be comfortable. The new furniture I am requesting will facilitate all of the learning styles of my students. Many of my students have attention difficulties, being able to move and change seating can eliminate some of the frequent behavior issues that are seen in a traditional classroom setting. They would be able to collaborate at the dry erase desks for a group project, while being able to bounce on the seat, not distracting others, and working with a team. Students will spend at least 84 minutes with me in my classroom, they need to be comfortable in order to learn! Learning for that students may be having a chair that allows them to fidget, a classroom that they can collaborate in and even a spot where they can work peacefully. These students are learning that a classroom doesn't just belong within the four walls of the classroom. It doesn't have to be orderly and uncomfortable. Help these students get a chance for a change!
