My students are from a varied background. In my school, we have students who come from all types of families. Our school represents nearly all races and ethnicity's. Our school is a public middle school serving about 1200 students in grades 6-8 in a suburban area. Data from recent years has shown that our students need visual teaching of vocabulary, especially our English-language learners. They score higher when they experience things hands-on and often lack exposure to anything outside of their immediate neighborhood, unless they've seen it on television.
