  • Fueled for Learning!

    Funded Dec 13, 2024

Thank you very much for your generous donations towards my project for obtaining snacks for my classroom. My students will greatly appreciate having a snack on a daily basis. It is nice knowing there are kind hearted people in this world who are willing to help other people. Have a happy holiday season.”

  • Choices, Choices, Yum!

    Funded Dec 21, 2023

Thank you so much for donating to my project. My students love all the choices for seating that they now have in the classroom. Having the option to move around the room and sit in a seat that is comfortable to them is so much better than being limited to a chair all day. Our calm corner now has a great cushion to sit on a relax and take a break. The classroom favorite is the scoop rockers. They are great for reading books.

The additional snacks are also a favorite and help fuel our hungry bellies so we are able to continue learning all afternoon.

    Thank you for your generosity.”

  • Clean, Fed and Ready to Learn!

    Funded Nov 30, 2022

Thank you so much for your generous donations! My students have greatly enjoyed not having to worry about remembering to bring in a snack every day or feeling left out if they forgot their snack. It has also been nice not having to be constantly going to the store to purchase snack foods. During the winter it was nice to have the lotion and Vaseline for dry hands and lips. In the past I did not have anything to help students who came to me with dry cracked lips. Now I can easily take a qtip and dip it in Vaseline and they can apply it to their lips to get relief.

    Your generosity is greatly appreciated.”

  • Game On!

    Funded Mar 1, 2022

Thank you for your generous donations. My students have enjoyed playing with all the games and activities that your donations provided. Whenever a box was delivered we excitedly opened it up to see what was inside. It was great fun teaching my students how to play the games. Many of my students have not played most of the games that I ordered. Now that they know how to play the games it is fun to watch them during free time and inside recess. As the weather starts to get colder I am thankful that we have these games in our classroom.”

  • You've Got a Friend in Me

    Funded Sep 24, 2021

Thank you for your generous donations to my Donor's Choose Project. It has been a pleasure to have these materials to use in my classroom during these long months of inside recess here in Michigan.

When the boxes arrived at my school my students loved trying to guess what was inside. The joy on their faces when they saw the toys and realized that they had new things to play with was incredible. They were thrilled to know that they no longer had to just color for inside recess. Having the plastic boxes makes organization simple. There are enough items for each student to have their own box to play with. This meets COVID 19 protocols and cuts down on the spread of germs.

Thank you again for your generous donations.”

  • Returning to School But Continuing to Learn!

    Funded Dec 27, 2020

Thank you for your generous contributions to my project. Since we are going to be heading back to school soon these supplies are going to be put to good use. Every student has a school issued laptop that they are doing their school work on. However they don't al have headphone. This wasn't an issue when they were working at home. With multiple students in the classroom that is going to get loud really fast so having enough headphones for everyone is going to be very helpful. Having binders for important papers for home to school communication is going to be very helpful as well. Students are going to be in school a couple of days each week. Having a few different snacks to send home with them is going to be nice to send home.”

  • Making Learning Travel!

    Funded Aug 9, 2020

This year has been challenging. With students learning from home it has required me to adapt in ways I never thought I would have to. Since my students have limited access to supplies and materials for learning I put together kits for them to use at home. This way I knew that they had the necessary materials for learning activities. In their toolkits students have counters, dice and tens frames for math activities. They have white boards and dry erase markers for practicing a wide variety of skills on. They have playdough for spelling words and building their fine motor skills. They have everyday supplies like pencils, crayons. scissors, glue, notebooks and pencil sharpeners. Everything is housed in a plastic container so they won't have to worry about keeping track of everything. Having all these supplies readily available to them at their house means that they will always be ready for their lessons and their families do not have to worry about supplying the materials for them. I also don't have to worry about some students having a certain material and some students not.”

  • Mirrors and Windows...Books Help Us See Ourselves and Others.

    Funded Oct 22, 2020

Thank you for donating to this project so that I could add these wonderful books to my classroom library. Right now I am teaching virtually so I am sharing these books with my students through Zoom during our daily class sessions. They are enjoying seeing characters that look like them and are experiencing life events similar to theirs. These books are also showing them how different cultures live and how things are important to different people. Once we read a story we are able to have in depth conversations about how the characters felt regardless of their race. When I am able to be back in my classroom it will be nice to have these books in my classroom library for my students to read whenever they desire.”

  • Learning Creatively From Home

    Funded May 20, 2020

Thank you for donating to my project. Because of your contributions I was able to provide my students with the supplies they need to complete school lessons at home. My school has been all virtual since September and my students do not have learning materials at home. It was obvious to me that in order to provide them with anything close to the kind of instruction that I would in a regular classroom I would need to provide them with some additional materials. Each student received a pencil box filled with materials, a notebook, whiteboard and clipboard. When we meet on ZOOM for class they have all their materials and they are all able to participate in the activities that I create for them.”

Makerspaces are intended to tap into the different interests and learning styles of students. This helps to develop the next generation of problem solvers. In a makerspace students have numerous opportunities to discover, assemble, construct, test and explore "outside the box" thinking. Through creative exploration and purposeful play students become critical thinkers and inventors while collaborating with their peers. Donating to my project will allow me to purchase the materials needed for my students to demonstrate their creative thinking. Each month I will have a list of ideas that students can look to for inspiration on what to make. They will then use the materials in the makerspace to create their project. Some examples are: creating a blueprint for a new playground, making a vehicle that rolls, make a maze or tower, make a bridge, make a haunted house, make a boat that floats, make a trap for a gingerbread man, design a board game, make a winter home for an animal, make a catapult, make a parachute, make a greenhouse, make a container to keep an egg from breaking and make a treehouse. Students will make their creations out of construction paper, pipe cleaners, clay, paint, glue, paper scraps and whatever supplies they can gather. In addition to these open ended ideas there are some items that allow students to build. Students can use the magna tiles, the bristle builders, crystal climbers and the vehicle design center to build different structures. The Makerspace will regularly incorporate and reinforce skills from numerous content areas. Problem solving, science concepts, math skills and language art skills. Finished creations will be displayed in the classroom as well as outside the classroom so that others can see the great inventions of my students.
