I am so happy to be teaching 1st grade this coming school year! I have been at my current school for 7 years and feel a great pride and accomplishment for working there. Many of the students I will have, are siblings of previous students I have had. I want to start this year off with a great start, especially, since this will be the first year with a student teacher. I am excited to have a co-teacher and to learn from them as much as they learn from the students and I. My students are from a low socio-economic background and many are first generation born here. In the past few years we had an increase in refugees and have struggled to keep up with their needs. I hope to alleviate some of the stress with this project and future projects to come.
