Beyond the Game: Exploring Unique Sports for Every Student
Funded Nov 19, 2024On behalf of the students at Lehi Junior High School, I want to express our heartfelt gratitude for your generous donation, which enabled us to purchase new hockey equipment and diablos (Chinese yo-yos) for our physical education classes.
Thanks to your support, our students at LJHS have been able to engage in a wider variety of activities that enhance their physical skills and promote teamwork. The hockey equipment has introduced our students to the fundamentals of a sport that emphasizes coordination, strategy, and cooperation. It's been wonderful to see students come together, learning the value of teamwork and sportsmanship, while also having a lot of fun.
The diablos have added an exciting element to our curriculum, captivating students with the challenge and creativity required to master this unique skill. They've sparked enthusiasm and encouraged students to practice perseverance and focus, skills that are beneficial both in and out of the classroom.
Your contribution has not only enriched our physical education program but has also fostered a more inclusive and dynamic environment where every student can find an activity they enjoy and excel in. We are incredibly grateful for your support and investment in our students' physical and personal development.
Thank you once again for your generosity and for making a difference in the lives of our students at Lehi Junior High School.”

Funded May 5, 2022I am writing this letter to you to thank you for your generous donation to my class project "Everyone is Gaga over Gaga Ball". The money helped me purchase baby gates so my students are able to play the fun game Gaga Ball. If you have not heard of the game Gaga Ball it's a ball striking game that involves students having to dodge and jump over a ball. Many summer camps play this game and is growing fast in popularity at school sites.
The first day I brought out the baby gates for the game Gaga Ball my students were puzzled on what this new non-traditional game was. After teaching the students the rules and playing for about 3 minutes the students began loving this game. They quickly figured out how to find different strategies to turn this game from an individual sport to work as a team with other students. I was able to play this game with all my students from 1st grade all the way to 6th grade with minimal modifications. My students walked out of my classroom dripping sweat and I could hear chatter in the halls to their friends about how fun this game was.
Having the baby gates allows me to make this game more portable. I was able to teach this game not only in the gymnasium but I could also easily take them outside for my students to play. This year students have requested to play Gaga ball as part of their end of the year Field Day activity. They have also asked if they could get a set of baby gates so they can play at recess. In the meantime, I will be setting up the Gaga pit at recess a few times a week so students can continue to play Gaga Ball throughout the school year. I can't thank you enough for donating to my project.”

Time To Tumble Into A Healthy Lifestyle
Funded Jan 21, 2022I just want to thank you so much for your generous donations to fund my project "Time to Tumble into a Healthy Lifestyle". Through your kind donations I was able to purchase gymnastics mat for my students to safely perform tumbling skills.
Gymnastics builds confidence, strength, and balance. It also teaches spatial awareness and body control. Gymnastics skills also transfers to other sports. With these mat I am also able to use them for other activities in class which allow my students to learn more skills needed to continue to live a healthy lifestyle beyond my classroom.
When my gymnastic mats arrived my students' faces lit up with joy. They were super excited that we were going to be able to do our gymnastics unit. When we actually learned the different skills many students afterwards asked if we can learn more skills or get more practice time because they enjoyed it so much.
Next year I am excited to be teaching kindergarten Physical Education too. This will allow me to impact more students and build a stronger gymnastics foundation. Many of my students will not have the opportunity to learn these gymnastics skills outside the school site so these mats are a true blessing to my students.”

Funded Jan 18, 2022I want to first off thank you from the bottom of my heart for your generous donations. Your donations made it possible for me to purchase equipment for my students to continue to be active by learning non-traditional sports. Due to the scooter hockey sticks not being available to purchase instead I was able to buy five Kan Jam kits.
If you have not heard of Kan Jam it is a flying disc throwing game. Student work as a team to get their disc into the can. This game allows students to work on their hand eye coordination, accuracy and encourages friendly competition without physical contact. During the lesson on Kan Jam students learned about angles, trajectory, speed & force.
When I first introduced Kan Jam to my students the majority of them have not seen or played this game. They were excited to learn this new non-traditional sport game that is rapidly growing in popularity. After about 2-5 minutes of playing and learning the skills the students were hooked. They even requested Kan Jam to be played as one of their end of the year rockin recess activities and also for their field day on the last week of school.
I plan on continuing to give my students the opportunity to use the Kan Jam equipment not only in my Physical Education class but also during recess. My students at Sharon Elementary School will have the opportunity to check out the Kan Jam during recess to encourage them to be active and enjoy living a healthy lifestyle through non-traditional sports. Thank you again!!!”
