This is the first year that our district is incorporating the "gifted cluster model" into the regular education classroom. Previously, the gifted students' needs were met primarily during the pull-out class that they attended 1-2 times per week. Currently, I have 15 identified gifted students in my classroom, and am using a variety of strategies and differentiation in order to make sure they are challenged. In addition, I have 18 other students - some of which are unidentified gifted children. One thing the majority of my students enjoy is reading. They ask, "When do we get to read today?" I thoroughly believe that my class will enjoy reading "Chasing Vermeer." My students have a wide variety of learning styles. This book will address the students' needs by appealing to many different learning styles.
