  • Markers for Everyone!

    Funded Nov 11, 2022

Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity to our classes!!! Markers, according to the kids, are the BEST!!

Now everyone gets their own pack! While sharing is caring, it's very satisfying for these students to have their "own." I was also able to get pencil cases to house the markers so the kids didn't have to struggle ripping the cardboard containers the makers come in.

We also have enough now that if a market dries out, I'm able to give them a replacement to make sure they have all the colors!!

    Thank you again so much!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Polowy

  • Art Choice-Based Activities

    Funded Oct 17, 2022

Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity in helping to fund this project. The whiteboards are a huge hit!!

Many students get frustrated with the permanency even a pencil makes when they can't erase all of their mistakes away. These white boards give students at any level of ability the chance to take risks in their mark making.

The opportunity to be able to make many drawings with many chances of success help my students feel bolder when trying something new. It is also a very good way to relax and be imaginative!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Polowy

  • Art Supplies for 400 Students!

    Funded Sep 20, 2022

I am beyond thankful for each and every one of you that supported this huge project. Since I serve so many students at multiple schools, having enough supplies is a constant struggle. Seeing the excitement on the students faces when I introduce each new material that you helped supply is priceless. The paint sticks and the watercolor pencils have been the biggest hit!!

They are especially excited for the air dry clay I promised we'd start after Winter Break. We will also be doing some beading which I know will also be a crowd pleaser!

If not for your generosity, most of the students would not have the opportunity to use materials like these!!”

  • All Students Deserve Art!

    Funded Nov 18, 2021

Thanks to you, we have been able to do a lot of really fun water color painting that the kids love!! If we hadn't received these, a lot of students would have missed out on painting, which is a favorite activity.

The air dry modeling clay was a HUGE hit!! We were able to make holiday ornaments and paint them. The kids were so very excited to bring these home to their families!

Due to your generosity, these students have been able to express themselves creatively and try materials that they are not normally able to utilize at school or at home. Thank you for allowing me to be able to give these opportunities to them in such trying times!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Polowy

  • Art for Expression Outside the Virtual

    Funded Dec 1, 2020

Thank you SO MUCH for helping deliver these much-loved supplies to my students! Some of the art lessons on our online curriculum called for clay to be used, and most of my students' families are not in a position where they can just go out and buy these things. I think using the modeling clay has been their favorite so far--making pinch pots and sculptures!!

The kids were so surprised and thankful when they received all of the art supplies. I made a virtual classroom gallery. The kids send in pictures of their creations, and then I put them in the gallery so that they can all admire each other's work.

The families were also very grateful to have activities to do with their kids that didn't involve being on a computer screen.

Thank you again for your generosity. We appreciate you!!”

  • Material Kits During COVID

    Funded Aug 17, 2020

This project has been a blessing to these little first graders who require structure, routine, and enthusiasm to learn online. These kits have made it so that each and every student has the exact same materials we are using on our Zooms as teachers to display and deliver instruction. No parent had to scramble to find supplies. No student has to watch others use materials they do not have themselves. This consistency bolsters their confidence, so they are familiar with everything we are working with, and are able to feel successful during our times together on Zoom for distance learning.

The students were extremely excited to receive their own special kits, and take pride in being ready to learn everyday. If we do go back into the classroom, they will bring the kits along with them, so that no one shares materials, thus helping reduce the chance of viral spread.

These materials will be used all year long, and I sincerely thank you for your generosity to help our kiddos be successful in this unconventional learning environment.”

  • Library Expansion for Little Learners

    Funded Aug 11, 2013

You guys are the best. Every year you've helped me build a better classroom for these kiddos who need it the most. Too bad I didn't take pictures when the janitor brought them in and unloaded the boxes. They were eating snack (which is like the 2nd best time of day) and no body could stay in their seat!!

We are doing a science unit on wood, and one of the kids pointed out that "our fancy new bookshelves are made out of wood!!"

These make it so much easier for them to pick out a book, and keeps the traffic down at the reading area since multiple kids can look for a book at the same time.

I will be able to use these shelves for the rest of my teaching career since they are so well made.

I am lucky to have friends like you!!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Polowy

  • Weekly Readers

    Funded Aug 12, 2013

My students just love their weekly readers! They enjoy reading their "newspapers" that are new every week, and talk about what we've been learning in class. They are colorful with fun games as well as good information.

It gives me one more resource to draw upon to reinforce learning in a way that is fun, and makes the students feel important.

Next week we are going to be studying bats and nocturnal creatures, and I know they are going to flip out when they see the reader for it! The pictures are great, not just drawings, very high quality.

I'm so blessed to have friends, family, and even people I don't know willing to help out my classroom!!

    Thank you so much!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Polowy

  • 21st Century Listening Center!

    Funded Jan 22, 2013

Thank you so much for your incredible generosity. My students will benefit from these resources right away, as will future generations of budding readers!!

This will help round out and supplement our current literacy curriculum in a fun and meaningful way for my students. Not only will they be involved in group read-alouds lead by myself, but they will be able to explore assisted reading by themselves or in small groups.

These kids deserve every chance they can get, and I thank you once again for your generous assistance!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Polowy

  • Operation Literacy

    Funded Jan 16, 2012

You guys are the best!! What a wonderful and happy surprise for our class!! We took pictures while we were opening our new "prizes." They are so excited about the Smart Board games!!

Our class library has been a wreck for almost 2 years now, since I've been piece-mealing it together from garage sales and stuff that other teachers were getting rid of. Now we will have a way to organize our old books and add some new ones, so each student can find a "just-right" book to read, without having to shuffle through them all!

Also, they love saying "Watamillo;" they walk around singing it like a song!!

Thank you for your whoppingly gracious generosity!!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Polowy

I teach Language Arts in a Japanese Immersion school to about 60 Kindergarteners a day!! This program is fast paced and very intensive. We have a lot to pack into our day and into their blossoming minds!! I have returned to the elementary school where I grew up and learned about the world, and I want to do as well by these students as my previous teachers there did for me.
