Cozy Learning Spot Needed
Funded Apr 8, 2024Our 2024-2025 school year is off to a BRIGHT start! Our room looks so refreshed because of your generous donations. We have a new easel board, two new map rugs, and a car rug.
We're using the easel and map rugs for our carpet time each day. We start the day there with Morning Meeting and end the day with our knowledge lessons. Our first unit is on fairytales and I have been able to use the world map rug to show them where the stories came from. The car rug has been a big hit during indoor recess. The kids love to drive around on it and make up stories about the neighborhood.
The rugs are so colorful and soft! The kids oohhed and aahhed over them when they came in. Having a nice place to sit really helps them be excited to learn. We are so grateful for our new space! It's brought a wonderful energy to this new year.”

Needing Nonfiction! A Request for Classroom Magazines
Funded Oct 21, 2012We have received our non-fiction magazines! The students have been enjoying reading about Arctic animals, underground habitats, national landmarks, and Presidents. Each time I get out the next magazine, I can hear their excitement. They love to see new things, and learn about the world around them. We recently went on a field trip to a museum where we saw an owl. The students immediately began to compare it to the owl we had read about in Time for Kids that lives underground. It was a great moment of learning.
Thank you so much for your generous donation. We greatly appreciate your giving and consideration of our classroom.”

Fabulous First Graders Hoping for Headphones!
Funded Dec 20, 2012We have received our headphones! Thank you for your generosity in donating to our classroom. We would not have been able to buy individual headphones without you. This year, 98% of our students are eligible for free and reduced lunch. You have given them such a gift.
Not only do they have their very own headphones to use, but now I am able to help them gain proficiency using laptops. Many of them do not have home computers. At school, we have a laptop cart that I can use in our classroom. The students have learned to turn them on, open a program, control the volume, and shut them down. This may seem simple, but these are life skills! I am so proud of all my students have accomplished, and you are to thank.
In addition to laptop proficiency, the students are learning math and reading skills through the individualized program they use on the laptops. They are having so much fun playing the skills games and watching their trophy cases grow. We could not do it without headphones! Thank you for making a difference. Thank you for giving.”
