Basics Rule!
Funded Oct 7, 2020Greetings. On behalf of my amazing sixth grade students, I thank you so much for your generous support of their education through these art materials, school supplies, science and math manipulatives, assistance with our projects, and technology.
My students and I have been able to enjoy additional, fun activities such as using a real microscope, practicing engineering skills, and making music and art to go along with the incredible stories they write. For some, these fun projects brought education to life. For others, you were their only source of much needed school supplies.
COVID hit us hard, and you helped. You brought hope with your kindness in a very difficult time. Gratefully, we are emerging from the hardest parts of this pandemic. We appreciate your generous support more than you can know. From distance learning to our current hybrid model, your impact made THE difference in learning.”

Funded Nov 13, 2017My students and I have finally been able to dive deeply into this project and my goodness, have we had a lot of fun learning!
What kid hasn't had a blast building things? I certainly have fond memories of using Legos, Lincoln Logs, and simple blocks. My students could not believe that class time spent building bridges with these K'Nex kits counted as 'real science'.
We are so very thankful for your support. You made this entire segment of the Next Generation Science Standards possible for us!”

Funded Mar 27, 2018My students love using the iPad in the classroom. They have been able to showcase their work, explain their reasoning, improve communication, and present knowledge and ideas to their classmates.
We use an app called FlipGrid for students to explain their learning to me and their peers by using video. This would not be possible in the same way without the use of the iPad.
Students use an interactive periodic table to discover more information about elements, including how they are used in their daily lives. This method of research really resonates with them and is so much more fun on an iPad.
Some other applications for which we have used this iPad include sharing work with parents on ClassDojo, monitoring student behavior using ClassCraft, Khan Academy, Audible, graphing calculators, and so much more.
We appreciate your support, much more than words can say.”

Funded Dec 1, 2017My students and I have finally been able to dive deeply into this project and my goodness, have we had a lot of fun learning!
When I was a student, using a microscope made me feel like a REAL scientist. It was exciting! I was thrilled to find, as I suspected, that I could see that same level of excitement in my students. It took most of them some practice to be able to focus clearly. They used the pre-made slides to practice. We will later attempt to make our own slides to view the microorganisms in our soil.
We are so very thankful for your support. You made this entire segment of the Next Generation Science Standards possible for us!”

Turn Up the MudWatts!
Funded Sep 12, 2017Thank you so very much for your incredibly generous gift to my classroom! We are so excited to have these MudWatts science kits. Each student group is getting to monitor their own experiment showing how you can obtain electricity from the microbes in mud. Now that my students have learned the necessary background information to understand what is happening, and they have learned how to put together each unit, they will begin to use the scientific method to determine which soils create the most electricity. They'll discover what you can add to soil to create better soil as well. We could not have had this opportunity without your support. Who knows? You may have helped inspire the greatest bio-engineer of all time.”

Funded Jun 7, 2017My students and I want to express our sincerest gratitude for your generosity in funding this project. Many of my students benefited from taking these products home. These were all items that they would not have otherwise had access to this school year. The healthy snacks and hand sanitizers were easily and gratefully accepted. Dental care and personal hygiene items were perhaps the greatest surprise help of all since these items are not typically available to them at school. Not only were these items helpful to students and their families, the process of distributing them at school helped to build more trust and community among my students and me. They are amazing children who often give their time and energy to helping others here at school. We appreciate your support, now and always.”

Funded May 23, 2017My students and I want to express our sincerest gratitude for your generosity in funding this project. Many of my students benefited from taking these products home and using them personally here at school. These were all items that they would not have otherwise had access to this school year. Having their own sanitizers and tissues helped my students to feel ownership of their space, giving them a sense of confidence and control over their health.
My students are amazing children who often give their time and energy to helping others here at school. I want you to know that they appreciate you, and often pay it forward.”
