High Flyers: Making Studying Fun
Funded Dec 15, 2023Thank you so much for your donations. As a result of us creating innovative study materials, we were able to certify 3 months early and had even our youngest certify! We could not do it without you because our traditional funding at school level is not coming in a timely manner to support our class as needed.
Students were able to master reading latitude and longitude which we created a display of HBCUs by Lat/lLong in our building hall to help make the concept more concrete for understanding.
We also used the resources to spot light drone regulations that were key to remember and made practice vfr charts more durable for use for test prep which included being able to mark them up and erase/ reuse multiple times without weakening.
The students, their peers who learmed more by viewing it and myself are forever grateful!”

STEM-Possible: Making Competing in STEM Competitions a Reality
Funded May 7, 2019Thank you for your kind, generous and thoughtful support towards funding our participation at this conference/competition. It is with great honor and delight to say for the first time since we have participated in 2013 did we place and was honored as one of the top. 10 finalist in the nation in one of our events - Microcontroller Design. We would not have been able to do this without your support. To finally get recognized for all our hard work and dedication is priceless and we are so happy to have you all to thank for this opportunity. Overall, this will further promote our program and increase interest with hopes to encourage more kids to explore the STEM field knowing its rewarding and fun to do STEM! Lastly, Thanks Donors Choose as well who helped us with this and another Donors' Choose grant enabling us to receive the equipment to accomplish this feat.
Please continue to support us as we strive to place even higher at Nationals!!!”

Funded Mar 2, 2019Thank you so much for investing in our students education equipping them to be today and tomorrow problem solvers. The kits and accessories worked perfectly for our club STEM BASED competitions Microcontroller Design and Electrical apps. Each supported each other which we placed successfully. Students were comfortable enough to go from a novice and/or beginner students to be come experts.
Students planned, designed, and implemented in use a temp and humidity sensor and had it run during the competition successfully. Also they tested, documented their source code and made a marketing plan for having the community benefit from their product. They also had to present their idea to judges demonstrating knowledge and authenticity.
Ultimately, students now have attained electrical applications and coding skills being self equipped to provide wiring and sensor technology for their own future homes without paying others thus being self sufficient and able to market their skills to be self sustaining via income use to design for others this technology.”

Funded Apr 27, 2018Thank you once again for supporting my students ability to apply hands-on content learned. Students were amazed at how simple it could be to actually make these simple machines. Also, they understood that simple machines can be seen and help us in virtually everything we encounter daily. In addition they can now model after what was in the kit. Lastly this will help us with various activities and competitions that involve using simple machines. Please continue to support other STEM based projects as there is always a need for more resources.”

Soaring to Succeed Competing to Achieve
Funded May 10, 2018Thank you so much for investing in our students. This grant allowed them to achieve many miles stones. Inspite of fact they did not necessarily win top 10 or 3 awards they took away something much more valuable- enhanced leadership skills.
Some of those miles stones were:1. Experience an even playfield to attend regardless of financial status in the opportunity to practice leadership and accountability skill sets, 2. Boost confidence level to excel, 3. Provide tools and materials to produce competitive work.
Lastly, staying in the hotel in which the conference was held relieved anxiety and made competing extremely easier and more concise. In addition, Students are now more equipped as well to travel independently , manage time, and understands with much more seriousness criteria/and constraints which are all traits that helps them be a better student and citizen. We also had a chance to visit museums devoted to showing and sharing history of Coke Bottling and leadership/ethics from MLK visitor Center.
Many well deserved thanks again!!!”

Funded Jul 26, 2013Thank you so much for the wonderful opportunity provided to our students by making it possible for them to participate in this exciting STEM based club again this year.
Students were very excited about the ability to have the club again another year after being able to go to Nationals Competition last year. Student's costs for this year's club registration provided by this grant is now helping with students being able to pay for the competition which is also expensive but worthwhile. Also, this grant helped us start our club meetings earlier than ever we had before which maximized our time to devote to competition projects.
In addition, through the club activities in preparation for attending the TSA competition, students are reinforcing what is learned already in their classroom setting which is very much correlated with the TSA competitive events.
As we are currently preparing for competitions we are often reminded of how this opportunity was provided by the outpouring of donations from donors such as you. It is a great motivating factor for the students to continue to foster greater teaming and problem solving skills and to never give up because all things are possible with work, courage, and great measures of optimism.”

Eco Chair 3000
Funded Apr 30, 2013Thank you so much for your wonderful generosity through both your financial efforts and supportive/encouraging words. The students were very excited about the opportunity to produce their competition product more appealing than ever using the resources purchased. Through this process, students are coming up with more innovative ideas for the National Competition we will participate in the end of June.
Coincidently, directly after this grant, three other funding sources also contributed to our national competition expenses. However, we will always remember that this project supernaturally served as the catalyst for all of the other recognitions and funding sources. Students not in the club were in awe with the materials and project. They have been so impressed by what the students in the club are doing that they have also offered their input on how to make it a "super" project winner.
This year due to funding, only 10 students could be officially apart of the organization that would compete even though through all of my classes we modeled the competition events. Our goal for next year is to have more participation and include all of my classes in the club activities. Many thanks again for allowing us the opportunity to be more expressive, creative and innovative in our efforts to increase students' interest and participation in STEM projects.”

Funded Oct 1, 2011Thank you so much for the needed materials to increase the aesthetic appeal of our model. Students took such great pride in using these materials and knew that it would increase their ability for our model to look futuristic. Above all, the materials allowed the students to make more creative choices that would not have been so if we had limited resources. We are inspired to repeat competition to win utilizing the resources remaining to make an even more dynamic 3D model for competition!”
