  • Literacy Tools for Young Readers

    Funded Dec 21, 2011

I wish you could see the joy and excitement on my students' faces when they use the Reading Phones, Wiki Stix, Sequencing games and Gel Boards during centers each day. Since they've arrived, I've been unable to introduce new centers! They love their new "tools" and get very upset when I suggest we switch things out for something new! Their favorite thing has to be the Wiki Stix! We've found so many great things we can do with them that I am certain I will need to get some more before the end of the school year! Thank you for your generosity and dedication in providing meaningful materials for my students. The learning experiences they'll gain from having these things at their disposal is amazing!”

    With gratitude,

  • Writing Help to Make it Right!

    Funded Sep 27, 2011

I can't begin to thank you for your generosity to my students. The 'Writing Machines' as we call them, are a huge hit at centers! It's been a great tool to help the students who are still unsure of how to form letters. Many of my students can identify the letters by don't make the connection between looking at the letter and making one for themselves. Thanks to you, we now have a tool that bridges the gap and helps my students accomplish even more. Thanks to you, we are excelling! Their writing has greatly improved since we received our 'Writing Machines'. Many thanks! ”

  • Cold Tile, No Smile - Warm Rug, Big Hug!

    Funded Aug 31, 2011

Thank you for your generous donation to our classroom! The new carpets couldn't have come at a better time! When we opened them up it was like Christmas morning with all of the oooh's and aaah's. My students have been enjoying centers on the new carpets and a few have claimed them as nap time spaces. It is amazing how one students' behavior has completely changed at nap time with the addition of a personal space for sleeping! These carpets have done more in my classroom already, than I'd ever expected!”

  • Big Place for Big Books :)

    Funded Aug 19, 2011

Thank you for giving me the gift of space! Thank you for giving my students the gift of organization! And super thank you for giving us a gift we can use for a long time! Our new big book center looks and functions better than it ever could without your help. The storage shelf allows us to use more books and display them properly without the risk of damaging the books any further. We work so hard to preserve the things we have and our previous shelf was damaging our books as it was not the proper way to store them. Because of your generosity, we now have an organized, purposeful space to work with our big books!”

  • Storage Space for Amazing Books

    Funded Jul 7, 2011

Storage and organizational space are always hard to come by in a kindergarten class! There is always the need to make the space warm, inviting and COLORFUL! Thanks to you, our new storage space is colorful and perfect to store books and other tools for our guided reading small group area. It is large enough to hold all of the necessary materials yet small enough to not take up a large amount of space. We even have extra bins that have yet to be filled so we have room to grow! Thank you for being so dedicated to my students education!”

  • Hot Dots for Hard Workers

    Funded May 15, 2011

Nothing in kindergarten is more exciting than a new toy (or learning tool) that makes noise and lights up! That was very clear when we received our new Hot Dots and got to try them out! The boys and girls in my kindergarten class were so eager to show them off and share with each other that I had to replace the batteries in the pens rather quickly! They've had so much fun practicing skills and learning new things without even realizing that although they think they're just playing a game, they're really learning and building on their own knowledge. Thank you, for providing my students with much needed tools for their academic success!”

  • A Space Of My Own, A Spot Just For Me!

    Funded Jun 14, 2011

Thank you, thank you, thank you! This project means more to us now than it ever did when I posted it! Our school has undergone some changes which left kindergarten having to share their carpets with other grades and we were left with only a small carpet for just a few students. This carpet came on the first Monday of kindergarten and has been essential to our success. We now have a comfortable, cozy place for everyone to sit when we are practicing our reading and math each day! Little did I know when I wrote this project just how desperate we'd be at this point for a carpet! Thank you for being proactive and helping me provide a comfy, warm space for my kiddos!”

  • Guided Reading with No Library! Part 4

    Funded Apr 22, 2011

Wow! Funding of this project has made our leveled library complete and a true success story! With your generous donations, my students have received a COMPLETED, leveled library full of fiction and non-fiction books to help them learn to read. Without these books, it would have taken me months to level my books and to search for appropriate texts for my students. Thanks to you, it is not only done already, but its perfectly matched to meet my students interests and abilities.

Thank you all for taking my students into consideration when choosing a project to support. They are so excited to have lots of new books.”

  • Guided Reading with NO LIBRARY! Part 2

    Funded May 23, 2011

As you all know, books are some of the most important things I need in my classroom. Thanks to your generous donations and dedication to my students, they now have more and more books to help us accomplish so many new things. The leveled books you've sent to our classroom will help me better prepare my students for their own reading readiness and learning how to choose appropriate books. My kinder kids are so excited to visit our library and explore the books. Thank you so much for being such an asset to my students. Their reading abilities will grow thanks to donors like you!”

  • Amazing Multicultural Reading with help from Kings' Series

    Funded Apr 19, 2011

initiativekindnessThank you for the kindnss you've shown our students. The books have arrived and the children are so excited! It's been amazing to watch them open the boxes and see over 400 books! Guided reading is a new inititive in our school and these books will enable me to provide my children with the most complete instruction as possible. Having these books in our classroom will also help us to keep moving at our own pace instead of waiting for books to be available.

Thank you for showing my students that other people care for them!”

I teach second grade at a large school in southern Louisiana. My students are eager to learn and work hard to push through the barriers that they may have been dealt to be the most successful students that they can be. Many of our students have special needs and additional instruction beyond the days lessons; not only academically, but emotionally and mentally due to the violence they see and hear each day. Our administration and staff is focused on sending our students on to bigger and better things, being confident that their foundation of learning is strong and will withstand the trials that many of our students will experience before high school is over. We believe, we achieve, we succeed!
