Research shows that children in poverty are easily distracted and this causes their performance to be lower. I feel that it would be beneficial to our student to have alternative seating, so that they might be able to reach performance standards in the classroom. I have looked into exercise balls and resistance bands for the students to use in the classroom and have read many studies about alternative seating and the effects it has on classroom performance and behavior. Third grade is a transition year for many student because of the STAAR test and I feel that they need to find a special comfort zone so that they can learn to their greatest potential. Help my students acquire balance balls to provide alternative seating and help them be more productive in the classroom.
