  • Full STEM Ahead!

    Funded Aug 12, 2022

My students rarely have opportunities to participate in activities that require them to experience productive struggle and are engaging at the same time. These STEM kits provided an opportunity for students to work on a challenging task that required collaboration and was fun and informative. When they first started building the cars, they didn't seem to have the confidence in being able to complete it. As they worked in teams, their confidence and level of engagement increased. They had a great time building the cars and then racing them against their classmates; they were so competitive! I look forward to providing more team building opportunities that help them improve their learning and increase collaboration.”

  • Chill Out!

    Funded Aug 13, 2022

Thanks to your contribution and generosity, I have been able to create a safe space where my students feel comfortable and know that they can have the space and resources to decompress or take a "break." This year, I have focused on character building and adopting positive habits which include ways to destress and applying effective communication skills. Providing a non-threatening environment facilitates and helps my efforts. Sometimes students need a moment to calm down, and focusing on creative tasks, such as the coloring and art, helps in de-escalating situations and making students feel better emotionally. I plan to continue to focus on topics such as effective communication skills, decision making, and mental well-being.”

  • It's a Sticky Situation!

    Funded Aug 15, 2022

Thank you so much for your generosity and for believing in my students. The hand sanitizers were very helpful in helping my students continue to protect themselves as much as possible from germs and covid exposure. The slime kits provided a fun incentive for students to finish all of their assignments and be able to engage in a fun activity.

My favorite item was the guided journal. The prompts in that journal were very helpful in leading meaningful conversations and helped build community among my students. Building my students' confidence and positive habits is a goal of mine and this journal has been very helpful in my effort.”

  • Halloween Fun for All!

    Funded Oct 16, 2022

Thank you so much for helping to make Halloween for my students memorable. Thanks to your generous contribution, I was able to make 100 treat bags filled with candies and snacks. My students were surprised and very grateful.

Although I intended to give everyone a bag of candies, I tricked them last week and told them I'd only give Halloween treats to those students who had good grades and were not missing assignments. Well, they worked hard and many of them raised their grades and submitted missing work!

Thank you again for supporting my students.”

  • Food For Thought

    Funded Sep 1, 2022

The items that you helped purchase were a big hit. The classes I meet with are in the morning and many students do not eat breakfast. The boxes of cereal helped with that. Students also enjoyed the cookies and ate them with milk during their nutrition hour. It was nice to be able to have snacks on hand for when students were hungry. The candy was used to create goodie bags that were used for prizes and incentives for either winning a review game, good behavior, making progress and/or improvements or simply for attending school. Thank you for allowing me to provide students with these experiences.”

  • All Cultures Matter!

    Funded Sep 18, 2022

Thank you for making our Hispanic Heritage Month celebrations a success! We had multiple activities in which students had the opportunity to win prizes while learning about Hispanic facts and cultures. We had a Loteria, Mexican bingo, afternoon in which all staff and students were invited. We had snacks and an afternoon filled with fun. Prizes given included Hispanic snacks and candy and Hispanic Heritage Month shirts which winners were able to wear during spirit days. Thank you for believing in my vision, my project, and my students!”

  • Here's To A Smooth Year

    Funded Sep 1, 2022

Thank you for contributing to my project and allowing me to give my students goodies so that they could have a smooth year.

The hand sanitizer bottles were filled with hand sanitizer, from another funded project, and the holders/keychains were personalized with the school's name and logo. Everyone loved them! The chapsticks were included with them as a small gift. The shampoo, conditioner and body scrub were placed in treat bags that included other personal hygiene items.

I believe it is important for students to feel valued and that their physical needs are met. Thanks to your contribution, I was able to do this. Thank you!”

  • I Love It Here!

    Funded Jul 19, 2022

My classroom is purposely laid out and decorated to feel like a safe and positive space for my students to feel calm and motivated to feel and do their best. Being in an environment that is positive is important for students to feel valued and important. The posters with positive quotes and images serve as a constant reminder that they matter. The light up letters were a big hit! Not only are they visually appealing but they help promote and build school spirit.

The title of my project "I Love it Here" is literally what many students say. I want them to take pride not only in this space, but in the school as a whole. This is their home away from home after all...

Thank you for supporting my classroom.”

  • This Is Me!

    Funded Aug 27, 2022

This was such a fun activity for my students. I did this years ago but without a template and I had students either draw their pictures or they had to print their own, which was something I wasn't comfortable with because they paid for their own pictures. Thanks to your donation, I was able to use my personal camera with the donated film to take their pictures. Students loved their creations! Having a poster template and the markers for them to use made the final product very nice and neat. After students completed their posters, they had to stand up and share the information on their poster. It was a very nice welcoming activity that helped us with our goal of building relationships. Thank you for believing in my project and in my students.”

  • Do You See What I See?

    Funded Jul 6, 2022

Thank you for believing in my projects and in the positive impact on my students. The Quest provided an incentive for students to complete their work to be able to use it as a reward. I purchased an app for it and students were able to use it to exercise and keep active. They also used their math skills to set up the perimeter of their playing area.

My students loved the maze pens. I gave them to them as a welcome to high school gift and they were surprised and very grateful. We are going to use the wooden blocks to create scrabble letters to decorate our classroom. Thank you for helping me make my class fun!”

The students I work with are “at-promise” and they are asked to stay after school, come in before school, and/or Saturdays for tutorials and enrichment opportunities. Although they are allowed to bring food and snacks, not all of them are able to. There are stores and fast food places outside the school but most of our students rely on free lunch and cannot afford to purchase snacks to eat outside of the school day. I would love to have a classroom pantry of snacks for my students to be able to have a snack while working on their academics rather than be hungry and unable to concentrate.
