Fitness And Fair Play Is Our Goal
Funded Dec 2, 2015I wish you could witness first hand the difference you make with your donation. When the packages started to arrive, students would run into my office to see what was in the box. They older elementary students couldn't believe we had footballs that fit their hands. They bugged me everyday until I allowed them to try out the new equipment. Luckily, we have had a mild winter and the students have had the chance to try some of the equipment. The older students are interested in what is rugby, why does the ball look kinda like a egg-shaped football. We have never been able to do rugby before and not only students but also myself is looking forward to a full unit in the spring. I can't wait to answer all their questions and teach them the game of rugby. We have tossed around the rugby ball a few times but we all can't wait to do drills and play games. My youngest students were so excited to see the nets. We have used cones or poles on the chain-link fence to mark the scoring area before in soccer. The younger students were dancing around and couldn't wait to try to score in the net. Their excitement was contagious and everyone was laughing and enjoying themselves.
We are thrilled that this winter has been so mild and hopefully will continue to be so that we can make great use of the equipment. Students and staff her at Stone are thrilled to have new equipment allowing us to not only fulfill our curriculum guidelines but also to make the experience exciting, enjoyable, and satisfying. Again, I can not express the gratitude I have for your donations. Thank you!”

Get Moving - Inside!
Funded Oct 25, 2014I can not thank you all enough for your generosity. My students were so excited when they saw the boxes coming into the building. I even overheard one student hoping it would rain so that we would have to have PE inside in order to try the scooters. Our small gym makes cold and wet days difficult but the scooters have provided us with many new opportunities. They help to keep the students on-task because they have their own space. We've done activities with and without the hockey equipment and they have enjoyed every minute. Students have even made up new games to play using the scooter hockey equipment and the scooters. This is wonderful to witness as a teacher because the students are working together to develop ideas, rules, and a sense of fair play.
Your donations did more than just better their PE experience. Being a therapeutic school, often our students feel forgotten. Just knowing someone cares enough to donate to their school made them feel good about themselves. Your donations not only helped to increase their physical wellness but also their self-esteem and emotional wellness. For that all the teachers here are extremely thankful.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Oehmen
