Tech for Kids!
Funded Aug 14, 2019Providing my students with this Chromebook and mouse has helped give them access to many fun, new and engaging activities. I always try to incorporate activities that meet the learning abilities of my diverse classroom. Providing them with this Chromebook has given them the opportunity to play educational games, type written assignments and research fun and exciting information. It has been valuable in allowing me to incorporate technology into lessons as a way to provide them with something new as well as a way to update lessons. The Chromebook has made a positive impact on my classroom environment!”

Funded Nov 11, 2018With your help and support I was able to Introduce new literature to my classroom library. These books have increased my students' interest in reading. As a teacher I always want to encourage my students to read as much as they can. One great way to excite them about reading is by introducing them to books that spark their curiosity. Putting fun and exciting books in their hands makes me feel that I have done something to positively impact my class. I was able to do that with your generous donations and contributions!”

Organize Our Learning Space!
Funded Feb 11, 2017Thank you so very much for your generous donations! The children absolutely love the new carpet in the classroom. It has allowed the class to feel more organized and comfortable during lessons on the carpet. The children know exactly where they should be sitting. It has also allowed the children to be more respectful and cognizant of each others personal space. When teaching, I have noticed that the students are able to pay more attention to instruction and directions. This has increased my teaching time. I could not have gotten here without your support!”

Lifelong Literacy!
Funded Nov 21, 2014Your donations to our classroom project has made a great impact on our class. With the assistance of a classroom iPad we have been able to use educational resources to facilitate reading literacy, fluency and most importantly, a love for learning. With the use of the iPad I have been able to work one-on-one with children to provide reading intervention, direct instruction, and enrichment. I have also used the resource in small groups to encourage reading development. We also use the iPad in whole group instruction with the use of our classroom projector.
Contributions to this project have helped to provide so many more learning opportunities for my amazing first grade class. I strongly believe that teachers can and should reach children using various teaching styles and modalities. Having a classroom iPad has reinforced my beliefs and enhance my teaching style”

Adventures Through Literature
Funded May 3, 2013Thank you so much for your support and contributions to my classroom project. CD players and headphones have helped create a learning environment that is meeting the diverse needs of the children in the classroom. Many times curriculum is delivered in a visual way. CD players and headphones have added the auditory component to my lessons, meeting the needs of our auditory learners. Providing literature that is paired with words and audio has made reading more accessible for the students. It has also helped encourage reading fluency and reading development for our beginning readers. Being a fluent reader is such an integral part of being a successful lifelong learner. With your support I have been able to reinforce the foundation of learning.”

Listen To Learn
Funded Oct 2, 2012Your contribution to my project has made an amazing influence on all of my children. Being able to have access to wonderful literature paired with audio books has made a positive impact on their learning. It has also made a great impression on them and has encouraged reading. For those students that may have a difficult time reading text or print, audio books have made them feel more successful and confident with reading. As an educator I have found that connecting print to words has made my classroom a more meaningful place where wonderful learning can take place. Thank you again for your support and donations!”

Learning Through Doing!! A Document Camera Can Help!
Funded Jan 27, 2012We would like to express our gratitude for your generous donations to our Donors Choose project! Incorporating a document camera into my daily lessons has allowed the students to follow along with materials at their desks while I model for them. Each student has used manipulatives and other hands-on materials while they practice what I am modeling for them. They have been able to instantly share their work since it can be projected onto a large white board. A document camera has also allowed the students to work collaboratively and view other perspectives and approaches to problems. I have also projected pages in books and had the students experience concepts of print and important reading strategies such as appropriate pacing, print tracking and intonation. The books have come to life while the students model reading for each other. The document camera images have been projected using our new classroom projector which was funded through Donors Choose!
Above I have described some of the many ways my students have benefited from the use of a document camera in the classroom. Your donation has touched the lives of my students and many in the future. Thank you for all of your support and generosity!!

Funded Dec 9, 2011We would like to express our gratitude for your generous donations to our Donors Choose project! A projector in our classroom has made a tremendous difference for our students. The students have been able to share pictures, display student created work, and watch educational videos and presentations. The addition of a projector in our classroom has allowed us to impact student achievement for students with visual impairments, as well as those students that learn visually. The opportunity to project and enlarge a variety of lessons, such as math, has allowed us to provide lessons that are universally designed. These lessons have addressed the needs of all students in the classroom. Teaching children by using various forms of technology to present lessons is a fun and stimulating way to engage students.
