New School Year, New Supplies
Funded Sep 3, 2024Our class of fifth grade students are getting good use out of the donated classroom supplies. Students use headphones daily for lessons on the computers. They also use pencils and highlighters for marking notes and writing in class. 5th graders use binders every day to organize their English Language Arts work. The dividers separate categories such as reading, writing, grammar, anchor charts, and data.
When the supplies were opening and explained to students that they were donation gifts they were happy and amazed that people would buy these for them to use.
Thank you very much for helping these students have access to material for a successful school year.”

Everyday Classroom Supplies
Funded Dec 14, 2023Thank you for the donations of classroom supplies. These pencils, glue sticks, tissues, and headphones are used daily in our elementary classroom.
The students are so grateful that someone was kind to give our class these supplies! This relieves a lot of families from the stress of wondering how to purchases these important items.
Students use tissue as needed and we use a lot during cold and allergy season. In math and science class we are writing with pencil only and we work out a lot of math problems on paper. Glue sticks are used for our interactive notebooks. The headphones are used daily also with our Chromebooks and district digital curriculum.
Thank you again”

Light Filters
Funded Feb 2, 2020Students are excited to participate in creating our learning space together. Students respond to a comforting and calming space to enter into each day. These light filters still light the classroom with a softness that helps with focus and attention. We use a lot of computer time in class and the donated light filters help with the glare on their screens. When the student found out a donor had gifted them this gift they were so grateful for someones kindness. We build our classroom family and take appreciation in the space we study in each day.”

Fire Tablets
Funded Oct 3, 2019The students in my classroom are thrilled about the new technology we now have available everyday. We have occasional access to laptop computers, but these new tablets have been able to provide easy of use for apps that engage their learning. Students checkout a tablet to use for a variety of academic enrichment and keep it at their seat as they would a library book. Slim and easy to store.
One app students enjoy is XtraMath. It is a math fact fluency practice program. The class favorite is a reading app called Epic Books. Students each have a profile and have access to a variety of books. Books of many levels, some to read as an ebook, some to listen to as an audio book (which they following along with a book in hand), and Read-to-Me books for our reluctant readers.”

This classroom project was brought to life by Windows of Hope Foundation.Flexible Seating
Funded Oct 3, 2019The students in this classroom were very curious when they saw the large packages in the classroom one morning when arriving for school. I was then able to explain what donors are and what these donors had done for them. They were so honored that they were chosen to receive this wonderful gift.
I let the students help open the packages. I feel students have more ownership and respect for belongings when they know it is their own. Students worked together to unpack, assemble and clean up. We discussed what flexible seating was and how it would become a part of our classroom environment. We were going to be able to make our bodies comfortable so our minds would be ready to learn and focus!”

Funded Feb 21, 2018Funding this project Listen Up has made a great impact on the students in my 3rd grade class. Each student was assigned a set of headphones with a secure place to store them when not in use. In our classroom, students use the headphones do a variety of activities on the computers. Every student learned about handling and care for their headphones, feeling "ownership" of them.
Students were comfortable using the new headphones! Students are working and focusing on tasks without complaining about headphones being too tight or heavy. These headphones are easily adjustable for a good fit and could raise or lower volume easily. Students liked that the headphones folded to store in the shoe rack pockets on the wall and that the binder clips held up their number tag.
So many students had used bigger, bulkier, and much tighter fitting headphones they loved the gentle fit of these new headphones. Some students used the headphones like earplugs to lower the general volume of the classroom distractions so they could focus on the task in front of them!!
Thank you again for helping improve our environment for student learning!”
