Store it so we can use it!
Funded Sep 18, 2024Thank you so much for your generous donation! We are enjoying using our new activities in class. We are using our pop its to "push out" the sounds we hear, and we are sorting picture cards by beginning sounds in small groups.
Our new storage materials are helping me keep things organized for our phonics and comprehension lessons. They are slim and easy to store, easy to label and keep everything we need for a unit inside.
The bigger storage containers are holding our center materials and are helping make access to those so much easier and neater to store and use!
Our room organization is slowly changing over to our new materials and it is making a visible difference in how we can use things. Thank you again - it sometimes goes unrecognized, but not here!”

Mrs. Nevitt

Funded Oct 18, 2023Thank you so very much! We are so excited to have new hands on materials for our second semester reading groups! My students were thrilled when I pulled out new things to use and got right to work trying new things out. We are searching for words, looking for beginning sounds, swiping off our letters as we read words.
These tools are making reading groups fun again, which is invigorating to all of us! Kiddos are patient with each other to take turns, reading aloud together and are looking forward to coming to small groups.”

Fall into a New Book!
Funded Oct 12, 2023We are so excited for our new books. Many parts of our current reading curriculum are a little dry for kindergartners, and are only shown through a slide show. Having actual books to hold, read and turn pages is such a game changer for these young students.
For me, I love that I have real stories to read aloud on our 'pausing' days, that I don't have to go hunt them down/share them with the rest of my school, and that I can extend them with some creative and fun hands on learning (like our chicken life cyles we just finished in our farm unit!).
Thank you so much for bringing our learning to life! We appreciate you!”

Funded Dec 14, 2021Thank you so much for your generous donations! We have loved having new materials in our classroom.
Our baby dolls for our home living center are a HUGE hit! All of our kiddos love taking care of them, feeding them and dressing them. It is so sweet to see them learning to help take care of others.
Our word activities and games are a big hit during our small group times. My students who are new to school are practicing writing their letters correctly, some groups are working on making short vowel words, while my ready readers are sounding out letters and blending to make words.
Personally, I am so thankful for the storage you provided for our classroom. With the new focus on Science of Reading, I need a place to store all of our materials for each unit/lesson and the storage tubs and file folders have helped me be a more efficient and effective teacher.
Your donations do not go unappreciated. We are so thankful for your thoughtfulness and consideration of our classroom.”

Building a Diverse Classroom Library
Funded Aug 12, 2020Thank you so much for your generous donation to our classroom library. It means so very much to me for my students to 'see' themselves in the books we read. We paint self-portraits at the beginning of every year after we read books about what makes us special and unique. I love this project and I feel it is even better this year after we had more books to reflect each one of our students.
These books are consistently chosen by the students during center time to look at again and again. They especially love the ones about families and different hairstyles this year!
We also shared many of these texts this past week as we read books about different foods and cultural celebrations families embrace. We look forward to more about how we are all different and yet the same.
Thank you for making a difference in someone's life!”

Funded May 5, 2020Thank you so much for your generous donations. In this time of technology-focused education, it has become more important than ever that we have authentic, hand-on resources. When I wrote this project last spring, I had no idea that we would be even more removed from activities like this now. It is very special for me to be able to offer sensory learning to students who are used to spending their days learning from a screen. The ability to touch and feel letter shapes, to create them from playdoh, kinetic sand, wiki sticks and more cannot be underestimated. I am excited to see my students learn and grow with these materials during this unusual school year. I am grateful for your loving hearts and kindness that made this project possible. May you see the impact you have made firsthand someday.”

Funded Aug 14, 2019Thank you so much for your gift of these new books! Our classroom is so very grateful for your gift. Books are a relatively expensive item to purchase for the classroom, and having books that truly show our students, their experiences and communities is invaluable.
My students have loved getting the opportunity to see themselves, their families and experiences in the text, as well as seeing that of others - of their classmates, of other families in our school and the world.
When we started school we read stories about our names - how we got them, how they are different and why they are important. We then read stories about how each of us are special, no matter what we look like. We painted self portraits with our own color skin/hair/eyes. These turned out SO well after reading texts that showed students their experience. Currently we are reading stories about celebrations - about foods that are important to their cultures and families.
It is so important to me to see that after we read these books together, students seek them out during their free choice center time. This shows the importance of these as part of our classroom experience.
Thank you again so very much.”

Funded May 13, 2019I cannot thank you all enough for completing my classroom project. The speed with with it was fully funded thanks to your generosity was amazing!
Our new supplies arrived prior to school ending in May, and my students were overwhelmed with excitement to have new things to discover! They LOVED the light table supplies and spent even longer than normal at that center discovering, building, and learning. The new blocks were a huge hit! We added windows to all of our buildings. They loved the brick building challenges and blueprints to inspire their building.
The new blocks for the water table were beloved by all! What a fun way to explore and learn. Likewise, they loved the marble path kit. And finally, the amazing creations we made with the huge box of Magna-Tiles were astounding! They loved every second of their play, were creative and stretched their imaginations, and most importantly, they had fun at school.
Your kindness and generosity is unmatched, and I am forever grateful.”

Funded Nov 28, 2018We are beyond thankful for your generosity to our classroom. As a younger grade classroom, technology is not widely available to us. Many of our older grades have ample opportunities to interact with educational technology and software, and we are lacking. Having hands-on technology can bring more learning to life!
The Osmo genius kits are such a great way for children to interact with technology without being 'sucked in' to the tablet alone. With the interactive tiles, students have to manipulate their work, which helps with their fine motor skills as well! They are not simply tapping or clicking buttons, they are learning. The numbers activity forces them to count on, to make combinations, not just to match. The letter activity works on learning beginning sounds, which is a very important skill at our age! And the tangram works on spatial awareness.
We are still working in small groups as we learn the ins and outs of these activities, but I know they will be a valuable addition to our centers!
These tablets and Osmo kits will be used for years to come in our classroom, and have already enriched their learning!
Thank you so very much.”

Funded Sep 9, 2018Thank you so much for your generous giving to our project! Our students have LOVED spending time at the light table! Every student in our class visits at least once a week, and they are always working on something new.
The first day we had our light table out, we had a line of students waiting for a turn! They love exploring the new manipulative we have out each week, and I am always amazed at what they think to do that I didn't suggest.
So far we have made patterns with color chips, worked on tracing our letters, sorted insects by color and made patterns with them, and explored our pattern blocks by making designs. Next week will spend time working with dominoes as we have been learning about those in math! We plan also to sort letters by form and explore colors as we layer primary colors to make secondary colors!
I know my students will remember the light table for years to come, and I am so thankful to have such a sturdy and long lasting item for our classroom. This light table will be used for many many years to come! Your impact will be long term for these students, and I am so thankful.”
