  • Table for All

    Funded Feb 20, 2020

Your donation made a tremendous difference. Although we are all struggling to find the most peace of mind, something as trivial as a table actually does just that. These tables are being used for students who choose to work on tactile activities in the library while having their own personal space to do so. Before the students worked on the floor building with Legos, Kinects, etc, but now they have a few of these tables to work creatively and comfortably.

Thank you for all that you have provided for our school. It has made a world of difference.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Najera

  • Seats for Success

    Funded Feb 20, 2020

During this time, your donation for chairs has been exactly what we needed. We thought that the chairs would provide an exciting welcome to our students this new school year, but it turns out that it will also help us ensure that we have enough seats to socially distance them once they start attending in-person classes.

Our students are so eager to return, and yet, understandably so, they are also scared and hesitant. With these beautiful new chairs, instead of them replacing the old chairs, we will utilize them as extra seating throughout the library for our students.

Thank you so very much for your continued support in serving our school community. It will be put to great use for years to come.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Najera

  • Seating for Reading

    Funded Feb 28, 2020

These times are certainly new to all of us. I can tell you with certainty that these chairs will help spread out our students so that they may be at a good distance from one another once they go back to school.

We are working hard to make sure that our library will be inviting, safe, and secure to our students. Eager to return to create an as much as normal environment, this furniture will surely do the job once they return.

Again, thank you for your wonderful consideration to our students. We truly could not provide a safe haven to our students without you.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Najera

  • Table For Four

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

Your donation has gone a long way in our library. Since your giving, our library has never looked better, and this has greatly improved our student visits. They say one should not judge a book by its cover, but the physical appearance of our library now is so bright and inviting and has definitely changed the way students view it.

Nowadays it is common to have students come to the library during their free time once they complete their work so that they can sit and read at the library. It is no coincidence that some students are also now preferring to work on their projects like science fair, class assignments, etc in the library.

Your giving does go a long way. Cliché or not, it truly does. I do not tire of telling people how much the culture of our school has changed due to the positive changes in the library. Thank you for all your giving.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Najera

  • The Book Children

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

This project is one that will help students keep their enthusiasm for books this school year. The previous years, students have shown the greatest enthusiasm when new books arrive in the library. This year, they have already caught wind of the new titles, and they are beyond elated. Their academic scores improve every year, and I truly believe it is due to the amount of reading they are doing. The best part of all, they love to read. It is not a chore for them. They are eager to check out new titles and compete with their classmates on checking out the most up-to-date titles.

We are so happy to receive this new collection. Our students will enjoy these books for years to come. You have made a great impact in their lives. Thank you for that.”

  • Adventures in Reading

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

Our school has grown leaps and bounds throughout the years, and I have to say that it is with the help of new books in our school. When I first started working in the library, students were reluctant to read and would often return their books without even reading them. Several book donations later, the dynamic of the school changed for the better. Students were constantly asking if we were going to receive any more new books. They often ran into the library early in the morning in order to get first dibs on a new title, and they requested and eagerly waited for students to return their books so they could be next in line to check them out.

After a while, students were volunteering book summaries as they checked out new titles and were reading every single book that was taken. This new collection is continuing this legacy of love for books. Thank you so much for instilling this love in them. Trust me when I say it has changed the culture of our school, changed students' academic grades, changed their lives, ... changed everything.”

  • The Whimsy of Reading

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

Books, books, and more books! That is what we received late last school year just in time for this year. Our students have already started stopping by the library asking what new materials we have, and they are met with eagerness and excitement when they see the new selections. Teachers, likewise, have been scoping out the new collection and taking books with them to share with their students. Moral of the story, everyone is elated when new books arrive at our school. In a school district that lacks funding for technology, students are still in love with physical (not electronic) books. They love the look, the smell, the feel of them, and more than anything, they love the places these books take them to.

    Thank you for that.”

  • Fun Seating for Reading

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

Thank you very much for helping our school with something so simple as a table and a few chairs to make the library more inviting, safer, and accommodating for all our students. With your donation, our students now have more places to choose from to read their favorite books or work on projects.

Our school year has begun and it could not be more exciting for the kids. The new table has also provided a place for our students to work on their favorite projects, conduct research, make new creations with their coding building blocks, etc!

You have made this library more exciting than ever!”

  • The Fantastic Flying Books of Mrs. Najera

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

It was a wonderful surprise to receive this donation at the time that we did last year, just in time for the new school year. Well, I have to say that our students are so excited about the awesome new books in the library, all thanks to your thoughtful giving.

Our students are on an upward trajectory. Their love for reading continues to grow more and more each year. Once reluctant readers, they would turn in their library books without reading them, but the new selections every year have given them the desire to seek out new reading material. We are so grateful that you have given them more chances to learn and grow, one book at a time.”

  • Library Bistro - Fun Seating For Reading!

    Funded May 27, 2017

Wow. I have few words that can actually describe how your donations have changed our library. Students are all the more eager to come in to read. They enjoy the new seating the library has to offer, so much so that even our struggling readers and those with behavior issues are trying hard to be on task in order to enjoy sitting in our special areas. As soon as they kids came in, they gasped and were taken away by the colorful chairs and shiny new bistro tables and chairs. Now, our students have more options for reading. I have been working for years to improve the library, even purchasing tables and chairs on my own, which becomes quite expensive. You have helped make this project an awesome work in progress that I hope to complete with future Donorschoose projects. We are so grateful to your contribution. Every day the library becomes a brighter and better place for our kids to learn. Thank you.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Najera

I developed a passion for teaching when I became passionate about students! I entered the classroom thinking love for reading was the most important thing, but students taught me that love for them came first. Many of my students have not been exposed to the world, other than through what they see on movies and television. Their lack of global awareness inspires and excites in them an awe and wonder when they see something new or different. As one who truly cares for students, I have tutored without pay, receive phone calls at home over homework, taught after school and weekends, and spent time and money on my kids. My heart goes out to them for not possessing some of the commodities other kids have, but it drives me all the more to instill in them a desire to learn, grow, create, inspire, and believe in themselves.
