  • Creative Communication in Speech Therapy

    Funded May 7, 2024

Your donation has made a significant difference in our speech student's lives by helping support their foundational communication and language skills. The students were so excited to open their new speech tools! They were eager to learn how to use their new tools and materials. From the multisensory manipulatives to the colorful picture scenes, the students were so ecstatic.

Students have been able to practice foundational literacy skills such as segmenting sounds in words with the manipulative color pop it blocks. They have also been carefully working on the specific words with target sound patterns from the contributed Explode the Code and MegaWords programs. The students also loved to "talk" about the picture scenes and make up their own stories as well.

With continued use of these materials along with specially designed therapy sessions, I know that our speech students will continue to make progress toward learning their letters and sounds to help their reading and writing. I also know that our students will continue to develop their oral communication skills with the visual supports and manipulatives from your donation!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. N.

  • Sparking Speech and Storytelling Skills for All

    Funded Sep 10, 2022

My students eyes lit up and they saw the new materials to engage them in our therapy sessions. They felt excited to see images with diverse characters in everyday situations to help build their story telling skills. We also have begun working on write stories using the sequencing picture cards by writing story events on sticky notes. The digital timers and velcro interactive books are also wonderful tools for helping our earliest communicators complete activities with support and modeling. Thank you all for bringing joy and tools to spark learning and communication skills for my students with a range of needs.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. N.

  • Tech and Safety for the Hybrid School Year!

    Funded Nov 3, 2020

Thank you for your generosity and support during this unprecedented year in learning. My students have been so motivated by the new ways we are able to share ideas and interact through the materials I was able to purchase on Teacherspayteachers as well as the use of the document camera. By using the document camera, I am able to share materials and the students can use their expressive language skills in order to describe and provide me with directions to manipulate the materials. One of my students has shown a new level of engagement as I am able to share materials I already have that are of very high interest to him. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for this opportunity to learn more through teletherapy.”

  • Tools for Speech Work

    Funded Feb 24, 2019

Thank you for your generous contributions to our Speech and Language project. With the Scotch Pro laminator and laminating sheets, we are able to archive our speech work and share it with others. As a therapist, I can create wonderful resources to support learning and access the different abilities of my students. My Speech and Language students are so excited when they see new manipulatives and resources that they can utilize in therapy! Laminating makes our projects and activities so durable so they can be enjoyed and shared with our families and peers.”

    With gratitude,

  • Speech Superheroes Need Organizing and Publishing Tools

    Funded Dec 17, 2015

The Speech Superheroes are using the materials from your kind donations in order to retell and rewrite stories. They are also creating their own stories in written form. These speech and language students are also using the memo pads to write positive and constructive feedback on each others' work!

After hearing all about your kind donation, many of the speech students' eyes widened as they smiled from ear to ear. They felt very honored that someone with a large heart thought of them and their education and communication endeavors. The materials that arrived at our speech and language room are certainly motivating and engaging!”

  • Help Us With Our Narrative Skills!

    Funded Dec 3, 2012

Your generosity has helped provide motivating and engaging materials for my speech and language students. Your donation has helped expose my students to wonderful literature that has strengthened their comprehension, organization, listening, and retelling skills!

My speech students have gained so much from your gift. My younger children in grades K-2 have been working diligently on identifying story elements, answering wh- questions, sequencing, and story retelling with wonderful books such as Tomie dePaola's Strega Nona. My 3-5th graders have been working on inferencing, main idea, and context clues while reading from the Roald Dahl collection!

Thank you for providing my students with an opportunity to listen, share, and learn with all the works of Tomie dePaola, Patricia Polacco, and Roald Dahl. You have given my students the opportunity to heighten their appreciation of literature, and that it is certainly a true gift that will remain with them throughout the years!”
