  • OT Activities To Promote And Engage Purposeful Learning

    Funded Aug 15, 2023

    So sorry this is late.

My students love all the activities that are new in Occupational therapy. We have engaged with the marble run, The large Connect 4 is now a school-wide activity. The fidget cube, balls, and puzzle mazes are challenging.

My students are so grateful for Donors Choose and donors like you who provide this much-needed support.

These activities promote fine motor, problem-solving skills, and play, an important part of the learning process. Students require engaging activities that are purposeful and meaningful to the student. Again, thank you so much.

    I am truly grateful.”

    With gratitude,

Thank you so much for donating to this project. This was a school-wide project. Our students love to tie-dye. We have had this activity for several years. I love to watch all the students create amazing designs. Th students worked so hard on this project.

The workers are also amazing we have mostly students assisting the students to promote peer support.

Several days later we all wear our tee shirts and get to see all the amazing designs that have been created. This is truly an amazing activity.

  • Magic Sand for Sensory and Fine Motor Development

    Funded Apr 24, 2023

Thank you for your donations to my project Magic Sand for Sensory And Fine Motor. The students loved the kinetic sandboxes. We now have several with one very large box with multiple users. The students are engaged in imaginary play, creating sand castles, and using the construction trucks to make roads and large buildings. My students are looking for word tiles and reading the words to each other. The meditation sandbox helps for calming down and relaxing. I am truly blessed and grateful to all those who donated and made this Donors Choose project come alive. Thank you so much!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Murphy OT

  • Making Little Hands Strong!

    Funded Oct 26, 2022

Thank you so much for donating to my project on Donors Choose, Making Little Hands Stronger! My students were so excited when the activities and busy board arrived. Many of my young students are delayed in fine motor skills. Having specific activities that they enjoy is a plus. Having these activities also helps build up strength and coordination in their hands. Play is such an important part for young children. Play helps with the learning process.

I am so grateful to all the Donors. Donors Choose allows me to obtain specific equipment to help facilitate the learning process.

Again, I thank you so much for believing in this project and donating to get this project funded.

    A very grateful educator!”

  • Caught Being Kind

    Funded Sep 28, 2022

Thank you for your generous donations to fund this project Caught Being Kind! We have implemented this project throughout the school. Students are identified when they are caught being kind to a school member. This is a weekly activity.

Our students in each grade receive a small token ( a squishy Panda). We announce all those that were caught being kind each week. I find it exciting to see the students get excited and begin to understand the concept of kindness.

Again, I want to thank all my donors for their support. We can only do these projects through the kindness of donors like you. We want to spread kindness matters.

    Grateful to all of you!”

  • Office Supplies To Promote Successful Learning

    Funded Aug 26, 2022

First of all, sorry for being late with this thank you. The printer is set up and We are making handouts and craft activities. This has made such a great difference in time management and in the activities I can do with my students. Even the teacher sharing the room with me has access and makes such a huge difference in time management and with the paper!

I just want to thank all my donors for their donations. We spend a lot of our dollars and every little bit helps. Supplies can be expensive and replacing worn-out and outdated supplies helps our classroom function in a timely manner.

The color ink makes projects come to life. My students are excited about the new activities. We have made assorted writing papers to promote writing. We have added cute pictures to personalize their writing paper.

    Thanks a bunch!

    Grateful to all of you!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Murphy OT

  • Mistakes Are Amazing!

    Funded Jul 16, 2022

First of all, sorry for being late with this. I do appreciate all my donors and Donors Choose. The books arrived and are ready for my students. I want my students to know that making a mistake is no big deal. We learn from mistakes. Pencils have erasers, to correct a mistake. Our minds have so much information. At times, our hands can not keep up with all that information. Sometimes we need directions restated and step-by-step directions, so we can follow the sequence correctly.

I want to help decrease the frustration level some of my students have at even the smallest mistake. These books help with strategies and reasons why it is okay to make a mistake.

I am forever grateful to Donors Choose, my donors, and all the teachers/parents at my school. We are a small school with a lot of support to provide a positive learning environment.

Thank you again for your donation.”

    With gratitude,

  • Wobble Our Way to Learning with Wobble Seating

    Funded May 10, 2022

I want to let you know that all wobble seats are being used. Some have been embedded into classrooms and in OT. We always are using them. Our students enjoy the movement that these seats provide. The wobble seat supports improve trunk control. These seats are adjustable, allowing for wider use for all ages. Even our teachers utilize wobble seats. These seats can move around the classroom, taking up little space.

I am so thankful to Donors Choose, all my donors, and especially the parents and teachers at my school. Donors Choose has allowed me to provide assorted supplies, activities, and tools to support my students. I am forever grateful.

    Thank you again!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Murphy OT

  • Spots To Mark Our Space

    Funded Dec 1, 2021

    Hello

We thank you for donating to help out our science classroom and others to have spots. These spots help each student identify their space . The spots are brightly colored and can be placed easily on the rug or floor. Ours students use them to sit in front of the smart board to listen and copy down important information. We also get to use them during a brain break for Go Noodle or another motor activity to get our engines going.

I just want to thank Donors Choose for this platform to help teachers and school staff in getting these extra items for us.

    Thank you all so much!!!!!”

    Funded Sep 21, 2021

Thank you for the generous donations to my book order. I wanted diverse books so all children in my school can have access to books that have special meaning. I also, wanted students to explore books about diversity and cultures.

America is a melting pot of different races, cultures and beliefs. This is what makes America so special. Promoting positive self esteem in our schools makes better students.

Donors Choose provides teachers access to funding that can promote positive learning for their students and ther schools.

Thank you again for donating to my project .”

I am the school Occupational Therapist in a public school working with students and teachers in kindergarten through 5th grade. I work with students in special education and recently the entire classroom through the teacher using RtI (Response to Intervention.) All our students work very hard and try their very best. I would like to create a classroom tool to be used by teachers to help address fidgeting and fatigue especially of the hands and fingers. The tool is a bin of fidgets that allow the children to squish, squeeze and pull using their hands. This is fun and exciting for the child and at the same time increases strength in their hands to help with the fine motor activities required in a classroom setting. This also allows for appropriate hand movement or fidgeting for the restless child.
