  • Bouncy Chairs for Learning

    Funded Mar 26, 2025

Thank you so much for donating to my project Bouncy Chairs. These chairs are great. I have 1 already and now will have 5. Our room is a multi-purpose room. we have speech, OT ENL and robotics in a large room. We need a variety of seating. These chairs help support our room. We have stools, wobble chairs, bouncy chairs, and 1 accordion chair.

Our students love the variety of our chairs. Random sizes support good posture and core muscle strength.

Our school is so amazed and grateful to all our Donor Choose projects that have been funded. We have limited monetary support. Without Donors Choose , our rooms would be bare.

Thank you so much for your generous support! We love you donors and Donors Choose!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Murphy OT

  • Communication Without Barriers

    Funded Dec 31, 2024

Thank you for donating to this project. I have been working for many years. Over time, communication can be difficult especially when translation is needed. This device helps with students and parents. I have ready access to fully explain to a student who does not understand English. I do not have to locate someone or call a translation company.

When completing evaluations, it is very important to get as much information as possible.

The student feels that they are being understood.

Thank you again, this simple product helps so much.”

  • Sensory Exploration With Making Slime

    Funded Dec 24, 2024

We have started making slime. We have completed groups, and individuals in making our slime. The reason for slime is sensory. Helping my students that avoid many different sensory experiences. This provides a step by step process. When these students see others excited about slime, they begin in their own time to try.

Making slime is following step by step instructions. This is part of executive functioning skills that are needed throughout the education process. The students also mix the simple ingredients and this supports strength and cooperation in a group.

Finally, able to place your hands into some slime, pulling and squishing can be exciting for my students. They become more focused and engaged. We add math into making slime. At the end we write about our experiences.

Slime is a fun way for creativity.

Thank you all for donating to this project. I hope this explains why something like slime can be so engaging and support learning.”

  • Healthy Snacks to Keep Us Going

    Funded Jan 26, 2024

First of all, sorry this is so late. I want to let you know how the students enjoyed the snacks. Many of our students do not bring in snacks. It is so important to have a healthy snack. The teachers do buy each month, but this becomes an added cost to running a classroom.

Healthy snacks provide fuel to support learning. We have working snacks that allow learning to occur and get in the needed math or writing. Our students can get the food that sustains them until a late lunch.

Our students are so excited that this surprise box came to our classroom. They enjoyed the variety of snacks and discussed among themselves which ones were really good. They were told of the Donors Choose donors and that it is so important to thank them for their donations to our classroom.

Finally, our students are grateful that we have Donors Choose. They want to send out a very big THANK YOU for supporting our classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Murphy OT

I am the school Occupational Therapist in a public school working with students and teachers in kindergarten through 5th grade. I work with students in special education and recently the entire classroom through the teacher using RtI (Response to Intervention.) All our students work very hard and try their very best. I would like to create a classroom tool to be used by teachers to help address fidgeting and fatigue especially of the hands and fingers. The tool is a bin of fidgets that allow the children to squish, squeeze and pull using their hands. This is fun and exciting for the child and at the same time increases strength in their hands to help with the fine motor activities required in a classroom setting. This also allows for appropriate hand movement or fidgeting for the restless child.
