Second Grade, Here We Come!
Funded Jul 27, 2022There are no words that can really express how grateful we are for the generous donations that allowed my first grade students to continue learning during their vacation. The students were super excited to receive their own Summer Bridge Activities Workbook on their last day of school. They loved that it was in color and that it came with incentives such as stickers and certificates. I was excited because it included all subject areas. Every year during summer vacation students lose some of their knowledge they gained throughout the school year because they don't continue practicing the skills learned. I am hopeful that when students return to school during the fall they will be more than ready for 2nd grade. Thank you again for the wonderful gift of learning.”

The Cycle of Life
Funded Aug 25, 2022First of all we want to thank you for your generosity and for making a huge difference in our classroom. The materials we received made our learning about life cycles fun and exciting. Even assessing student's learning was fun.
Students loved using the manipulatives, for it gave them a hands on opportunity to see the stages close up. I also used the manipulatives as a way to assess their learning. Students never knew they were taking a test. They were excited to be called to my table where I asked them to put a life cycle in order and explain each stage. We used the stamps to write about the life cycles, which made it fun for them. It was a different way to do a journal entry. After learning all about life cycles the students had an opportunity to create and present to the class, a life cycle of their choice.
Our life cycle adventure is not over. In the spring we will be using the butterfly nursery. The students will have an opportunity to feed real live caterpillars and watch their growth.”

Funded Aug 25, 2022I am beyond grateful for the generous contributions and interest in this project! I know that these resources bring my students joy and helps them be responsible. Everyday I witness how my students take care of their school supplies that are kept in their very own individual pencil boxes. Having their own homework folder has given my students a sense of belonging. A students told me "I like that we are all the same" I asked her to tell me more. "We all have the same folder so no one is better than someone else."
The pencils and the highlighters have also been an essential tool to complete our daily activities. Thank you so much for helping me, help my students be ready to learn each and every day.”

Funded Aug 25, 2022It is with a grateful heart that my students and I thank you for the generous donations that allowed us to have the lightning USB cables, the wall chargers, and the presenter clicker.
The way students are expected to learn and perform has changed so much over the years. Technology is pretty much a part of their daily routine. In language arts and math students are expected to take assessments using their devices. Now that we have access to the new wall chargers and the lighting cables, this task is not as daunting as it used to be. The student can continue taking their assessments while their device is being charged and time is being used more efficiently. We no longer have to take turns charging the devices since we now have a complete class set. My students are now more relaxed because they know that if they forget to charge their device they can still do it while completing the assignment.
The clicker has become a favorite tool among the students because I select a student to be a "special slide presentation assistant" and they get to press the clicker. They all want to do it, so they all do an excellent job at being a great listener.
We all have definitely been empowered with the new tools our class room has received.”

Funded Jul 12, 2020Thank you so much for your support and making my project come alive; unfortunately, Covid19 had a strong impact in my school community and I have not been able to share with my students, the joy of having new language art manipulatives in our classroom. This new coming school year, we will be back in the classroom and I can not wait to use the materials with my new upcoming first graders. The new materials will be very helpful as I try to close the learning gap that our students have suffered due to the lack of support during the closure of our school during the 2020-2021 school year.
I am sure my upcoming students will enjoy using the manipulatives as I know they will not only be fun but also effective.”

Funded May 5, 2020I feel so fortunate to have had your support and having this project funded; unfortunately, Covid19 had a strong impact in my school community and I have not been able to share the joy of having our art supplies in our classroom with my students. Coming August, we will be back in the classroom and I can not wait to use the materials with my new upcoming first graders.
Having their own art supplies, such as crayons and markers will be extremely important when we go back to school to remain as safe as possible.
Thank you again for your amazing support.”

Funded Jul 2, 2020Thank you so much for donating to my project and making the amazing resource available for my classroom and students. With the pandemia happening and school closing, the way I envisioned using the color printer for my students, changed a little. Teaching from home has been challenging and it almost feels like I am reinventing the wheel.
The color printer has been so helpful for it has allowed me to print colorful anchor charts, as well as flash cards, that I have used as I teach my class via Zoom. I have also created and printed colorful and kid friendly resource pages that I have mailed to my students so that they can use at home. These resource pages include alphabet charts, sight words, and number charts.
Students have reported to me that these resources have been very helpful as they complete their assigned work at home. Without your donations this couldn't be possible.”

Funded Aug 21, 2019My students and I are delighted to have a brand new library filled with books that they can actually read. Thank you!
My students always have a book of their choice and appropriate reading level, at their desk, Every time they finish a book they do a mini book report. The books are also used to do "scavenger hunts" Students look for the part of speech or specific sound we are learning. For example when we learned adjectives, the students made a list of all the adjectives they could identify.
I have noticed that most of the students love the Eyewitness Nonfiction Readers. They are full of illustrations and facts that they can understand. It is so rewarding to see my students being so engaged with the books.
Thank you for helping us obtain so many wonderful books.”

Funded Aug 23, 2019My students and I are very grateful for your donations that allowed us to obtain 3 galaxy tablets. My students are eager everyday to complete their work and continue practicing the target sound of the week, using the apps that are available on the tablets.
What I love about the tablets is that everyone takes turns playing with them; there is never any discussion about whose turn it is. I have also noticed how the students have taken upon themselves to tutor the students who need help.
The tablets have allowed me to engage a couple of newcomers to the country. While I am teaching the grammar lesson of the day, the newcomers sit with the tablet and practice the alphabet and the letter sounds.
Thank you again for helping me provide my students with this very needed technology. The tablets, not only help my students practice phonics skills, but they are helping them with their social and leadership skills as well.”

I feel confident that my students are safe and comfortable while they are learning.
