Fill Our Empty Shelves
Funded Nov 6, 2014Thank you so very much for helping us "Fill Our Empty Shelves!" The children were so excited to see the boxes of books unpacked! They kept saying "when can I read that?" and "when is the next library day, I'm checking that one out!" It is so exciting to see them so anxious to read books.
Although our shelves are plenty and our books are not, it's nice to see some finally starting to fill up! Reading is so important for children, especially ours! For many, these books will be the only ones they are able to get their little fingers on while they are at home. Your generous donations have made it possible for them to travel to far off lands, explore the world around them, and prepare for the future.”

Books Galore!
Funded Sep 12, 2014Thank you so much for the books! The kids are absolutely loving seeing what comes out of the boxes as they arrive! We have about half of our order currently!
The books have been placed in the classroom library and the children can use them for our silent reading time! Diary of a Wimpy Kid is a HUGE hit! I cannot wait to read Charlotte's Web to them and share my love of the story! Each time they head back to the library area I hear "wow! Look at this one!" and "I'm reading this one!" To hear them WANT to read a book and be excited about reading is exactly what I hoped to obtain from this project!
Having books that they are excited to read is encouraging them all to talk about the books they are reading and share why they loved it with one another. This is of course improving their comprehension and giving them opportunities to speak with one another about literature. Using their conversations I can relate back to stories they are reading or have read in my lessons and it becomes more personal to them.
Thank you again for supporting us! The kids are loving the books and I am loving the fact that they are enjoying reading!”

Organizing Our Learning!!
Funded Jan 21, 2013Thank you so very much for helping us to organize our classroom! We have a small classroom with LOTS of little bodies running around, so your help has allowed us to improve our learning and remain safe in our learning environment!
The shelving unit that you have helped purchase is going to hold our white boards that we use EVERYDAY! Now, we will be able to reach them easily and not have to step over baskets inorder to retrieve them and return them. This will also make transitions easier, which is imperative in our Kindergarten classroom!
I cannot wait to hang all of our anchor charts and maps on the chart stand. This will free up wall space to display the children's work AND will allow me to easily refer to previous learning and add on to our current learning!
Thank you for being a part of the success in our classroom!!!”

Listening For Success
Funded Jan 1, 2013Thank you so much for providing the books on CD for my students! They were so excited to have them arrive and couldn't wait to dive in and listen to them!!! I'm so excited to share the Dr. Seuss ones with them during March when we study his writing!
Being able to hear fluent English language is such an amazing tool for them. The stories will provide them with access to vocabulary they may not otherwise hear and fluent English language that they often hear only at school.
I would love to be able to purchase these and other supplies for my classroom, but the need is so great and I cannot keep up with the expensive supplies they need at this early age.
Thank you so much for helping me and the students!”

Teaching Our Youngest to Read with Nonfiction
Funded Mar 14, 2011Thank you so much for supporting our nonfiction project here at school! The kids were so excited as the books began to come in. They were immediately attempting to read them and trying to figure out what the books were about. We've already begun researching some of the topics the books teach! The children haven been able to engage in writing, math, science, AND reading activities thanks to your generosity! Thank you for supporting these young kids and helping them to building vocabulary and background knowledge”
