Growth Mind Set Writing to Learn
Funded Aug 4, 2018This year, I decided to work with my students to help them see that they all have great potential, and that it is only a matter of believing in themselves. For this reason, I purchased two sets of Growth Mindset writing activities. However, I needed notebooks in which students could place the worksheets and turn them into their stories. Thanks to your kind donation of said notebooks, the students have been working on their Growth Mindset stories for a few weeks now, and the work has impacted them positively. They are learning that they are in charge of their own learning and thinking, and this is a wonderful lesson for this demographic.
What I mean by this demographic is students who deal with trauma and tend to have a fixed mindset that tells them there is nothing they can do to change the hand life has given them. Through the daily activities we conduct during the first few minutes of class, they are slowly progressing to see that they do, in fact, hold some power over their own lives. Thank you again, for helping me to awaken that realization in many of my students.”

Paper to Help Us Learn
Funded Jan 11, 2018I want to start off by thanking you, from the bottom of my heart, for your donations. This year started off rough, and got only rougher. My school was only going to provide 8 reams of paper for each semester of study. I was teaching a theater class and an AP World History class, both of which require paper, for varying reasons.
Thanks to your generosity, I was able to give my AP students the exposure to primary and secondary documents that they could interact with. I was able to give my theater students scripts on which they could make acting notes, and with which they too could interact.
It's funny how many say they want to see impacts be made in education, but very few are willing to step up and actually provide the resources needed to ensure that our students are building the literacy skills needed for survival in an ever-growing globalized world. I cannot thank you enough for the impact you have made on my classes.”

Paper Goods
Funded Jun 16, 2017On behalf of my students, I would like to thank you for your kindness in donating the paper products that my students use to put together projects, practice their writing skills, track their writing progress, etc.
In the pictures, you will see that my World History students used the blank paper and the construction paper to put together a storybook that analyzes the significant events of the French Revolution. You will also see that my AP World History students have been given, thanks to your generosity, the tools needed to standardize their writing practices. Additionally, you will see how my AP students have used the resource you so kindly donated to create some Byzantine style art, to demonstrate their understanding of Islamic influence in Byzantine art and architecture.
Finally, I was tasked with teaching Introduction to Theater for the first time this year. Thanks to your kind donation, my students have access to copies of scripts and monologues on which they can annotate and highlight to best suit their needs.
Again thank you.”

Lowriters!
Funded Dec 29, 2014My students have been working very diligently to write their vignettes, understanding that thanks to the kindness of your donation, they will all have a collection of memories to cherish and share with the passage of time. Sometimes all we need is to feel as if we have a voice. Your donation has given my students the opportunity to showcase their voices. During the course of the year, we have worked on positive reinforcement of our learning; we have initiated "restorative justice" in our learning community; we built a community of trust, sharing, and caring. All of this has culminated in the students sharing their personal stories, not only with me, but with one another. I have seen them grow in their interactions with one another, and it has been most rewarding. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for making it possible for me to put together this "gift" for my students.”

Funded Dec 16, 2013I would like to take this opportunity to thank you, on behalf of my students, for your generosity. My students were able to use their colored pens in order to teach them to assign certain roles to sentences in their paragraphs. By doing so, peer editing was facilitated because students knew exactly what they were looking for in each sentence within the paragraph. The students were able to witness their own growth as they progressed toward mastery of writing an opinion paragraph as outlined by the new Common Core Standards.
Again, thank you for helping me to help these kids come one step closer to mastery of written language.”

Funded Dec 25, 2012I wish to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your generosity toward the education of my students. In recent times, we have been asked to do more with so much less, and we have delivered. However, I know the students can do better, and with your help I now have the most basic of resources needed in order to help them. I know firsthand that during this time of year our focus tends to be elsewhere, but your charitable gift has made it possible for some students who would otherwise not have access to helpful writing graphic organizers to have a chance at success. Thank you!”

Funded Sep 29, 2012It is with much humility and gratitude that I thank you for your donations to my classroom. This year started off a little rough, but the children have been great troopers. In spite of the rough start, we must still accomplish certain tasks, and it is in this area that your donations have had the biggest impact. My students are actually writing! Some of them are even enjoying it! They have been able to see their growth as writers, and I believe this has had a significant influence on them.
I thank you, once again, for your kindness.”

Funded Dec 30, 2011Words cannot express how grateful I am for people like you who value the education of our young citizens. I find it hard to find the words to express my thanks. I wish, first and foremost to thank you for sharing in my vision for a brighter future for my students. With your generosity, I know we have taken a step toward showing them that there is good in the world. My hope is that by witnessing your act of kindness, my students can learn to be kind, in turn, and realize that they too can, one day, make a difference in someone's life.
Again, many thanks for your participation in funding my project. ”
