  • Rewards for Star Students in Pre-K

    Funded Oct 26, 2022

Thank you so much for funding this project! We use 'Leader Bucks' in class to reward students when we see positive behavior in our classroom community. We encourage leadership skills, empathy and kindness. Students deposit their Leader Bucks in their banks in the classroom and go shopping for rewards at the end of the week.

Students have enjoyed receiving these rewards in class when they shop in our Leadership Reward Bin. They work so hard during the week strengthening these important skills. This incentive has helped to promote positive behaviors and kindness to others. Our leaders now support one another and work as a team.”

We are so excited to receive these new supplies for our classroom! We are in the process of redesigning the music center in the classroom and we can't wait to put them in there. Our students love music and dancing! We know that these resources will help to create excitement and wonderful learning experiences for our class. Your generosity means so much!”

  • Staying Warm in Winter!

    Funded Dec 20, 2022

Thank you so much for funding this project! Your generosity and support mean so much to us. The hats, scarves and mittens we received were packaged up and given to students right before our winter break. In addition, we included a book, an individual tissue packet, printed masks and sanitizer to complete their Wellness Gift Bags. After the break, we loved seeing students come into class and show us their mittens they were wearing! Your support helped to give our students the resources they needed to stay warm and safe during the cold weather in NY.

Thank you again for your generosity! We appreciate it.”

  • Healthy Start for Early Learners!

    Funded Nov 15, 2021

Thank you again for helping to fund this project! We continue to use these supplies in our classroom.

When we received these supplies, we created goodie bags for students and sent them home before the Thanksgiving break with tags that said 'Stay Safe & Healthy'. We filled the bags with some masks, a tissue pack and a hand sanitizer.

In Pre-kindergarten. we wash our hands often, so having a surplus of hand soap is so important! The soap lasted us for 4 months. It was so appreciated.

Thank you again for your support in providing our little learners with supplies that helped to keep them safe and healthy!”

  • Mindfulness & Yoga in Pre-K

    Funded Mar 6, 2020

Before the pandemic, we were funded with these fantastic supplies. Unfortunately, our classroom went remote and we were not able to use them until this school year.

Now, we love doing yoga daily in our classroom. We teach our students coping and calming techniques and yoga is one of them. We use the yoga mats to give us additional space around our meeting area for students to do yoga. When we are not doing yoga as a group, the mats and yoga pose cards are kept in our cozy corner. Students can lay out the mats and do different poses on their own.

Yoga has helped our students build flexibility and balance skills. They look forward to doing different poses daily. Thank you again for helping to fund this project! Since being back in the classroom this year, we use the supplies daily and love them!”

  • Staying Warm in Winter!

    Funded Nov 30, 2021

Our students were so excited to receive the cozy mittens, hats and scarves. We bagged the sets up and gave them to our students before the winter break in December. With any extra mittens and hats we had, we added them to our reward bin. Students loved picking out additional pairs of mittens or a new hat with their class reward points.

Thank you for helping to keep our students healthy, safe and warm this winter season. We appreciate your support and donation to our classroom. They wore them all through the winter and continue to wear them now!”

  • Learning Through Music in Pre-K

    Funded Nov 15, 2021

Music is such an important part of our classroom! In our class, we have a job titled 'Class DJ'. This student gets to pick the vinyl albums that we play for the day. They choose from a variety of albums that are classical, jazz or samba. It sets the tone and mood for the day.

We also received new instruments from this funded project. Our students really love playing the guitar and drums. They create their own songs or play along as they sing songs we've learned in class.

Many teachers and staff who come to visit our class notice the music being played or created. Thank you for funding one of my favorite Donors Choose projects! We appreciate your support of the arts in early childhood education.”

Through reading, students are able to explore sequencing, compare characters, identify setting and analyze plot. They build on decoding skills and comprehension. In addition, reading helps to build good listening and speaking skills. I would like to build a class library where students can go to read and retell stories using our puppet theater, books and new puppets. During center time, students will be able to choose the class library to act out some of their favorite books. The puppet theater will be put in the class library with our new puppets. After reading the new books to the class, students will be familiar with the stories. They will then be able to act out and retell the stories to their friends. Students will be able to explore storytelling in a cozy and creative space. They will be able to read, act and sing the stories with one another. I envision being able to invite other classrooms and staff into our room for plays, performed by our class.
