Flexible seating has allowed my students to take part in making educational decisions that impact their own learning. throughout the day, students have the opportunity to choose a location in the classroom that works for them. Currently my students are choosing to work in a variety of locations in our room such as: at low level tables, on the rug with clipboards or scoop seats, or at tables with discs. What can make flexible seating challenging is finding a way to organize student supplies and textbooks. Providing my students with rolling storage carts and bins would allow them to continue to move around the room freely with the benefit of having their supplies withing arms reach. These storage carts would also be extremely beneficial by allowing for more optimal instruction time by cutting back on the transition time needed to gather student supplies from one subject to the next. I have seen how choice can positively affect my students work and demeanor and hope that the storage carts and bins will help facilitate this further.
