  • Conducting Lab Experiments Like Real Scientists

    Funded Sep 21, 2023

Thank you very much for making science fun for our middle schoolers!

This year, we've conducted several experiments to enhance our student's learning. We've also had many opportunities to prepare our junior scientists for science performance tasks.

Thanks to all of their gear, our junior scientists felt like real life scientists. As they were opening up their packages they couldn't hide their excitement! We took many pictures to memorialize the moment. Now, when they enter the science lab and see all of their gear, they know they will be having fun while learning in the science classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Marrero

  • On The Spot Printed Resources In The Science Classroom

    Funded Dec 28, 2023

Thank you for allowing me to cater to my students various learning styles. Having access to printed resources from the comfort of our classroom has been a game changer! Science covers a lot of abstract concepts that may difficult to grasp and now students can benefit from visuals, graphic organizers, articles and so much more! Additionally, my students enjoy seeing their work showcased and now they are able to focus on learning while having fun!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Marrero

  • Our Junior Scientists Need A Color Printer!

    Funded May 8, 2023

I'd like to thank each and everyone of you who contributed to this project. My students and I are excited and grateful to you all. My students mean the world to me and I am always looking for ways to enhance their learning. Science is fun but involves so many abstract concepts, having access to a color printer will help me reach more students and differentiate for their diverse learning needs. We also produce a lot of beautiful end of unit products that we can now showcase all year long!”

  • Magazines That Will Make My Students Love Spanish Class!

    Funded Oct 17, 2018

Thank you very much for your donation. These magazines have been very popular and helpful in my classroom. I was able to use many of these magazines in my lessons. Students were able to read articles that interest them, which motivated them to read in Spanish.

Students were able to work on many reading skills such as; identifying main ideas, supporting details, summarizing and even composing writing pieces about the topics they read about. We were able to use the magazines to read independently, with reading partners or as a whole class.

Both my Spanish and non-Spanish speaking students were engaged and motivated to read. Like most of the students stated in their thank you notes, the articles were interesting and taught them new concepts. The articles were very helpful, because they were colorful and filled with images, which helped them understand the topics even further.

I am very happy to see my kids reading in Spanish, I can not thank you enough!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Marrero

  • What We Learn Becomes Part Of Who We Are.

    Funded Aug 22, 2018

Thank you for your generous donation. With this printer I was able to provide my students with a variety of articles, according to their interests. I was able to print texts that were all differentiated and on their specific reading levels, which targets their specific learning needs.

Additionally, I was able to create numerous resources that facilitate second language acquisition, all with images and in color, which is imperative for my non-Spanish speakers. The best thing about having this printer in the classroom, is being able to print resources as needed. My students were also able to complete their assignments and projects, and print them out in the classroom, where they are proudly displayed.

Having this printer in my classroom, has not only benefit the students I teach, but students from other grades as well. Whenever a student needs to print an assignment for any other class, and they do not have access to a printer at home, they do not hesitate to pass by the Spanish classroom to print their work. I am very fortunate to have received this great tool, and it makes me very happy to be able to help so many children by providing access to use this printer.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Marrero

I am a first year teacher and I want to show my students that there’s more to their world than what's in front of them. I believe that teaching our students a different language other than their native one is imperative and will allow them to learn and explore cultures that differ from their own. My hope is that by exposing them to what’s different, we may help shape them into tolerant members of society. "The limits of my language mean the limits of my world" - Ludwig Wittgenstein. Part of teaching my students is creating and printing resources that will help them learn a new language. Becoming bilingual is not easy, but with resources such as visual dictionaries and labels throughout the classroom, it definitely becomes less daunting. That is why I am asking for a color laser printer and 4 sets of ink replacements; I want to make our classroom is as appealing and bright as possible. This way, they will want to use the resources and learn a new language.
