  • Diverse Books for Diverse Students

    Funded Nov 21, 2022

Thank you so much for providing the diverse books for my classroom. The themes of the books integrate kindness and understanding with stories about kids that represent everyone.

My students have been so excited to hear each book read aloud. They have read and reread them multiple times, discussing what they love about each book, and begging for me to read them again. It makes my heart so happy to see them all so engaged with the books. The magnetic book shelves have made it possible to display the books, and I have been able to rotate the books so there are new ones displayed every week. What a great way to get my students to love reading!

All of my students have loved the books, and they have opened their understanding of how kids from all different backgrounds have experiences similar to their own and also differences that make them unique. These books have fit so well into our curriculum and also into our social/emotional lessons this year!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Mathys

  • Flexible Seating With a Purpose

    Funded Aug 5, 2019

The flexible seating options that help to hold our STEM games are amazing for my 21st Century classroom. The students have options that match their learning styles for doing their work, collaborating with other students, and working on technology projects. The space allows for students to work in various groupings easily within our classroom.

Donations like these make such a difference for today's students! Flexible seating options are the "new way" to design classrooms, yet the current furniture is limited to desks and chairs. Now my students have so many options for learning!

I see how much more on task my students are every day in our classroom. The students feel a warmth in the room and it is a great space for learning!”

    Mrs. Mathys

  • Building a Love of Learning With STEM Thinking Games

    Funded Jan 13, 2019

Thank you so much for donating to this STEM Thinking Games project. Having these materials in my classroom has made such a world of difference! My students absolutely love the choices they have to practice their critical thinking skills while building their teamwork skills at the same time! I love to watch how excited they are as they work together to solve the challenges!

My students learn best with hands-on activities. These games make our classroom an active place for my learners. They are motivating and engaging. I love how they celebrate each and every time they solve a challenge and then try to challenge themselves at an even higher level. They never get bored with these games. Every classroom should have games like these that challenge and motivate.

Thank you for making a difference in how my students learn!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Mathys

  • STEM Critical Thinking Challenges

    Funded Oct 26, 2018

These STEM materials have made a major impact on the learning in my classroom this year. The students are engaged and thinking, applying problem-solving skills, and collaborating daily. They love the variety of challenges and the materials are kid-friendly and interesting for them to use. Over and over I hear "This is so fun!" "I love doing these games!" "Look what I did, Mrs. Mathys!" and sometimes, "This one is hard." But, when the challenges are hard, the students are motivated to keep working on them until they solve them. It's exciting to see how accomplished they feel once they master one. My students are begging for more materials like these because they have been such a wonderful addition to the classroom. Materials like these have a big impact on students, and I'd like to think they encourage my students to try difficult tasks and to be excited about math and science. I appreciate the donations that helped to make these materials a reality in my classroom. I am so grateful for all the donors who believe in the power of education.”

  • Creativity With a Cricut

    Funded Aug 22, 2018

Thank you so much for supporting our classroom by donating for the Cricut and supporting materials. My students and I are so excited to get started using the Cricut to cut out words and shapes for our projects. We have some engaging projects coming up that the students will be using the Cricut for - a government island project, timeline project, and immigration project. Their learning will be limitless as their creativity shines in these projects. My students this year, especially, are artistic and creative and they learn best through hands-on projects. They love to cut, glue, draw, and create; and the Cricut is the perfect addition to our classroom!

My students were so excited when we opened the box to take the Cricut out! They couldn't wait to get started, and several of them jumped in to show me how to use it right away! What students can do these days with technology is amazing! We had fun cutting out shapes, drawing designs, and watching the Cricut do its magic!

I am so grateful you donated for this project. These items make our learning limitless and provide the extra special creative touches on all of our projects! I love seeing my students get excited about learning opportunities, and with the Cricut, their ideas are just literally bouncing off of the walls! They really want to make class T-Shirts, so I'm thinking a math activity involving costs will be on our future agenda! Thank you so much! This gift is such a fabulous addition to our classroom learning environment!”

  • STEM Engages Students

    Funded Aug 15, 2018

The STEM materials have been an incredible asset to my classroom! The students use these for problem-solving activities in learning centers. They are engaged by the hands-on materials and work collaboratively to solve problems with the materials. Their creativity shines through as they design structures, vehicles, systems, and inventions. They are always coming up with a new and different way to utilize materials.

The students in my class were overjoyed when the boxes began arriving in our classroom! They couldn't wait to open them and see what was inside. They couldn't believe donors gave all of the items to our classroom, as they felt so special that someone would give them such a wonderful gift!

We use the materials weekly with various STEM challenges. The students even want to use them as choice activities during indoor recess time because they are so engaging! These materials have transformed our classroom and made the learning for the students come alive! Thank you so much for contributing to our class project! This impacts so many learners in so many positive ways!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Mathys

  • Build It, Design It, STEM Learning Is Fun!

    Funded Apr 9, 2018

The STEM materials have been an AWESOME addition to our classroom. The students have been excited to use them from day one. Their faces lit up every day they were able to use the materials as part of their centers. It was exciting to see how they collaborated together to design and build projects. Their excitement filled the room as they said, "Look at this!" or

    "Come see what I made!"

My students built towers and structures, solved problems that were part of various scenarios given to them, and explored with science tools such as gears and magnets. Being able to use such great hands-on materials right in the classroom made their learning come alive!

I am so grateful you supported my project and helped my students to grow in their learning. Thank you so much!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Mathys

My students need these STEM materials because we don't have hands-on building supplies in our classroom. My students need opportunities to challenge their thinking and explore. These building materials will give students opportunities to learn without worksheets in a fun, hands-on way. Students will build their collaboration skills and communication skills as they work together to design structures and see their imaginations come to life! My students need these STEM materials so they can be engaged in hands-on explorations in the classroom that build skills for life long 21st Century learners. The Magnet Tiles and Magnet Building Blocks will be used by students to design structures, robots, vehicles, animals, and more. Whatever they can imagine, they will be able to build! The Marble Coaster will be used by students as they explore the engineering design process to plan and build a working design. The Gears sets will be used by students to see how parts and pieces work together to create a larger machine. Students will explore how changing one piece can effect the whole design. The Brain Flakes are a unique building tool that can be used in so many ways to design structures. The challenge is in how students can combine the tiny pieces to make larger structures. They will be using their imaginations and challenging themselves to create Throughout all of the experiences, my students will be building their skills to work together, share materials, collaborate with their ideas, and design something that they are proud of building! I can't wait to hear them exclaim, "Look at this, Mrs. Mathys!" "This is so fun!" "School is amazing!" and my favorite thing I know I will hear over and over, "I want to be an engineer or scientist or explorer when I grow up!"
