My students need these STEM materials because we don't have hands-on building supplies in our classroom. My students need opportunities to challenge their thinking and explore. These building materials will give students opportunities to learn without worksheets in a fun, hands-on way. Students will build their collaboration skills and communication skills as they work together to design structures and see their imaginations come to life! My students need these STEM materials so they can be engaged in hands-on explorations in the classroom that build skills for life long 21st Century learners. The Magnet Tiles and Magnet Building Blocks will be used by students to design structures, robots, vehicles, animals, and more. Whatever they can imagine, they will be able to build! The Marble Coaster will be used by students as they explore the engineering design process to plan and build a working design. The Gears sets will be used by students to see how parts and pieces work together to create a larger machine. Students will explore how changing one piece can effect the whole design. The Brain Flakes are a unique building tool that can be used in so many ways to design structures. The challenge is in how students can combine the tiny pieces to make larger structures. They will be using their imaginations and challenging themselves to create Throughout all of the experiences, my students will be building their skills to work together, share materials, collaborate with their ideas, and design something that they are proud of building! I can't wait to hear them exclaim, "Look at this, Mrs. Mathys!" "This is so fun!" "School is amazing!" and my favorite thing I know I will hear over and over, "I want to be an engineer or scientist or explorer when I grow up!"
