  • Seat Sacks for Organization!

    Funded Oct 4, 2019

We can't thank you enough for your generous donation. The students were able to use the seat sacks to better organize their materials. They put their library books and binder in their seat sacks so they can easily get them when they need it.

When we received the box, the students were very excited. I opened the box in front of them to see their reactions. Their faces lit up and the room was full of smiles.

The students are more organized because of the seat sacks. The best thing is, I can reuse them so the future students will be able to utilize the sacks in years to come! Again, thank you, and we hope that you would continue to help schools.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Magsombol

  • Technology Access for All

    Funded Oct 31, 2018

Technology is crucial in education, and having technology in the classroom is vital to my students' learning. When we received the chrome books, my students were very excited and couldn't wait to use them. More students are able to access technology during the day.

My students are constantly using the chrome books throughout the day. During writer's workshop, more students were able to research their topic. Moreover, students were able to take their Accelerated Reader quiz when they finish reading the books they checked out from the library. More chrome books mean less waiting for their turn to take a comprehension quiz from the books they just finished reading or make up tests if they missed the computer lab time due to absence.

Having a combination class is a challenge. By having extra chrome books in the classroom, my students were able to do online programs while I am working with another grade level. My students are constantly taking turns using the chrome books in order to practice Math skills through Freckle. Although we only have a few chrome books in class, they have been very helpful in our everyday learning. I am always excited to see my students' enthusiasm when they take the chrome book and use it.

We can't thank you enough for the gift of technology that continues to inspire students to learn more. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”

    With gratitude,

  • Mentor Texts for Successful Readers and Writers!

    Funded Aug 22, 2018

My students and I are very excited upon opening the box of our new books. The stories are wonderful, and they are engaged during interactive read-aloud. The students enjoyed and learned so much from the story Seriously, Cinderella is so Annoying. My class was able to discuss point of view and was able to compare/contrast to the original Cinderella. At the end of the story, my students were able to understand the character of the step-mother and felt sorry for her instead of Cinderella.

After reading a particular book during interactive read aloud, my students are able to check out the same book from our classroom library. This gives students a chance to reread the story on their own. Taking the book to their seats also allows them to look at the illustrations carefully, take their time, and enjoy the book as much as they can. One particular book the students enjoyed is She Persisted. Many of them were not familiar with the wonderful women who contributed in our society.

Teaching reading skills with picture books is amazing. They are always engaged because the text is simple enough for them to understand, but it enhances skills such as point of view, compare/contrast, sequencing, plot, theme, and many more. When it is interactive read-aloud time, students are excited because they know I will be reading another book they will enjoy listening to. With these books, comprehension skills are enhanced through listening, responding to questions, and discussing with others. I hope that my students will continue to get inspired finding the books they love reading!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Magsombol

My students come from a Title 1 low income school, and they come from diverse backgrounds. Despite the lack of funds, my students still strive to do well with what we have. They are enthusiastic learners, and they love to learn together. They are motivated individuals, especially when it comes to using technology. With online components to our curriculum, my students are excited to learn more.
