"Art enables us to find ourselves & lose ourselves at the same time." ~Thomas Merton. My school is located in a high poverty area in Newark, NJ. I teach grades Pre-K to 4th. My students come from diverse backgrounds, cultures & learning levels. Some are fast learners while others struggle. Many art programs have been cut and I am fortunate to be here to teach these amazing students. My art room is a place where all can & will succeed while also having fun! Students have a chance to be creative, use their imagination, learn about various types of art & artists, and have something to show off and be proud of. Students are excited when they see their work on display in the hallways. My school is a warm and welcoming place for our students. Our school staff and parent community work together in order to have a successful school environment.
