Become a Lover of Books
Funded Jan 14, 2020Thank you very much for your donation. Before remote learning, the students were very excited to see the shipment of books arrive. They couldn't wait to immerse themselves in the stories. After opening the box, all of the books were organized on the shelves. During free read, the students would pick a book, a location within the classroom and read for 15-20 minutes. It was a great sight to see the students enjoy the books which were geared toward their age and grade level however has a low reading level. This high interest/low level combination within the book collection has allowed my students to build reading fluency, vocabulary, build background knowledge, and held their interest in reading.
Thank you again for your generosity.”

Let's Travel the World!
Funded Feb 6, 2020Thank you very much for your donation. Before remote learning, my students had a chance to use the Google Chromebooks to do various online activities. During school, the students were able to complete educational programs such as Lexia, Reading A to Z, and STmath. These online programs allow my students to learn and improve on their phonics, reading comprehension and math skills.
With your gift, the students were also able to travel to various parts of the country as well as the world. The students went on many different virtual field trips such as the Monterey Bay Aquarium, Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico, and Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. My students loved using the Chromebooks! Thank you again for your generosity. Without your help, my students wouldn't have been able to experience all that technology has to offer.”

Listen and Focus!
Funded May 8, 2019Thank you for your generous donation so that my project could be funded. Students within my class were very excited to see their new headphones when they first arrived. These headphones became very helpful when the students are using the computers.
With the headphones, my students are able to listen to their computer programs without disturbing their classmates with noise. I have already noticed an intense focus that my students have when completing their assignments on the computers as well.
Again thank you for your help. These headphones has made a huge difference for my students.”

This classroom project was brought to life by Verizon and one other donor.Building Language and Knowledge Through Books, Manipulatives, and Games!
Funded Nov 14, 2017From kindergarten to fifth grade, all of my students were excited to use the new resources and materials. Through the use of these interactive materials, my students were able to learn and have fun at the same time.
My older grade level students used the games, place value disks, and arrays as soon as the box was opened. By using these materials, they were able to visually conceptualize math concepts and gain a better understanding of number sense in order to complete more complicated math problems associated with addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Everyday they enter the classroom eager to use the magnetic disks on the chalkboard to work out each math problem, play multiplication/division war, or play Math Builder. My younger grade level students enjoyed the colorful pictures that all of the phonic games came with. They especially love to match the vowel to the the correct owl by determining which vowel sounds they heard in the word.
These materials have instilled a greater eagerness to learn. Thank you very much for your support and donations!”
