  • A Literary Journey into the Oregon Trail

    Funded May 10, 2023

Thank you for your support and generosity to purchase the 3 class sets of books on Pioneer life! These books were used with 4 classes of 4th grade students to teach character and plot development in historical fiction texts, character traits, new vocabulary, and social studies lessons about pioneer life. We were able to give students different perspectives about the pioneer life and help students think more critically about what it was like to live moving west. Students were able to discuss the books in a whole group settings as well as small groupings. They loved talking about the action in the story and making predictions to respond to different historical scenarios. The variety in books was appreciated by the students and helped them become more engaged in the stories and learning. Thank you for giving our students a window into the past through this project! These books will given years of students valuable learning!”

  • Wobble their Way to Learning

    Funded Oct 4, 2021

When students first noticed the new wobble stools, they were extremely excited. They were anxious to open the boxes and claim their new learning tool. Smiles immediately spread on their faces, and the entire class cheered. They could not wait to start using these new learning tools!

The new wobble stools are used every day in the classroom to help students focus and learn. We have replaced the rigid chairs students were using for the wobble stools, allowing students to move while listening, working at their desk, and learning. It has been such a bright spot in our learning experience each day seeing students move and wobble while maintaining focus and perseverance to learn. Students don't need to stop learning for long periods of time anymore, but are able to take additional small breaks when needed using their wobble stools. For example, when completing a test I watched students read and think deeply while moving in their seats. It was a natural process for them. The new wobble stools have not interrupted their learning, but enhanced it! Often, students do not notice when they are using the stools to help them focus.

Students are currently able to use the stools in all areas of the classroom. They move their stool with them to whatever location they need to work. The wobble stools allow students to have an easily moved seat for any activity. I have found that students use of the wobble stools has provided another way for students to show ownership for their learning process. The students in my class are being leaders each day and are using this amazing gift to do so.

Thank you for your generosity and for your support of the next generation of leaders in my classroom. Your act of kindness has made a lasting impact for my class today, and for future students in my classroom!”

Thank you for choosing to give and make a positive impact in the futures of my students! These wobble stools will provide students with an opportunity to move and fidget while being able to focus and improve their learning stamina. I cannot express how excited these students will be to use these stools each day. Thank you!”

  • Information Access for All

    Funded Oct 8, 2019

My class is so excited to use the two I-Pad Mini's to further their learning. They have been loving using these I-pads to research unknown words and topics, to create presentations to discuss the literature they have been reading, practice their math facts with engaging activities, and to translate for classmates who are learning English for the first time. It has been wonderful to have technology that is portable and able to move with the students no matter the location. My students feel capable to solve everyday problems each day by using the new technology. As students grow, they will be using technology in their daily lives and future careers. The new technology provided to our classroom allows the students opportunities to practice using technology in a constructive and useful manner.

My students have been eager to use these new I-Pads. First, they have used this new techonology to communicate with a classmate who knows little English. It has given the students a new avenue to include and get to know our students who are learning English. Also, the students have been excited to use the I-Pads to research unknown topics. They are problem-solvers and using technology to aid their learning by researching information daily. In addition, the students are excited to use the I-Pads to share their learning with others. They have been able to create presentations and performances with the use of the I-pads. My students discover new ways to use our new technology each day.

The new technology we recieved has been useful to all students, but has been particularly helpful for students in my classroom who speak a 2nd language or are learning English. Students who are learning English have difficulty communicating with classmates or understanding assignments that are presented in English. Through the use of the I-Pads, the students are able to translate text, translate directions, and translate their native language to communicate with others. When we recieved the I-Pads, my English as a Second Language students started to participate in class more often because they were more confident once they were able to translate and had a tool to use. Also, the students have a way to communicate questions, and gain a better understanding by using the new tools. I have seen my students who are learning English flourish due to the access of the new I-Pads. They now know that they can communicate even if they have not learned the words in English yet.

Thank you for your generosity! My classroom and future students will benefit from the I-Pads provided for years to come. Please know that you have made a lasting contribution to my students now and in the future!”

    Mrs. LunBeck

iPads are a great research tool that can be easily shared among students. Students will use the two iPad tablets in finding information, share with group members, revise research and continue obtaining all necessary information to complete a task. For my ELL students, they can use the tablet at their desk to translate words they may not know in English and communicate with their peers more effectively. Also, students can use whatever information and projects they have with the entire class when connected to the display projector. I want my students to be innovative, assertive and take the initiative in their education. What I really appreciate about tablets are that they are very kid friendly, the movements with one's fingers and ability to zoom in or out details. It is very easy to use and thus students are more likely to use it. I want my kids to work and learn, and whatever tools help them to do so I am all for them.
