Fantastic Life Cycles
Funded Apr 7, 2022The caterpillars and ladybugs were the perfect way to introduce life cycles to my students. My students were able to make first hand observations and recod those observations with words and drawings. They were also able to compare the life cycles to each other living things.
When the caterpillars and ladybugs first arrived my students could not stop smiling they were so excited. For some of my students this was the first time seeing these insects up close or at all. That first hand experience is what makes science so much fun. I also believe student learn more and are able to retain the information when they see it. It was sad to see them be released but it was a great learning moment with my students. They learned what living things need to survive and that they are not pets to keep. I can't wait to do it all over again next year!”

Funded Feb 20, 2022My students have been very busy since their supplies have arrived. My third grade students have been using the cups, tape and straws to build marble runs and using their knowledge of slopes and gravity to complete. My second grade students have been using the cups, straws and craft sticks to create a structure that can stand on its own. Kindergarten and first grade have used the supplies to explore how materials work to create something. All of my students have loved creating and it has been my pleasure to help guide them.”

STEAM to the Rescue!
Funded Sep 23, 2021I can not tell you how these STEM kits have improved my classroom. I teach science and technology and this year and these materials have brought so much joy to my classes. We use the materials every Friday for STEM Fridays. My students use their imaginations to create with these open ended materials and some of their creations have been fantastic. It has also allow many of my English language learners a way to communicate through creation.
The first time I brought the cart in to a classroom, the students could not handle their excitement. We had a great conversation about how to handle materials and how to work as a team to keep them in great shape for as long as possible.
I can not thank you all enough for your generous donations to add fun hands on learning for all of my classes.”

Funded Aug 4, 2020Thank you all for your generous donations. This year has been tricky with starting a year learning new students during on a zoom meeting. Your donations allowed me to purchase digital activities that could be completed at home. I was able to give different options for students to complete while learning more about their wants and needs. These resources allowed me more time to focus on building relationships with my students while they had something engaging to do. Teaching science is very hands on so it was great to be able to find some interesting activities they could do at home.”

Sensational Supplies for Exceptional Ideas!
Funded May 5, 2020I can not thank you all enough for your generous donations. These basic art supplies were needed more than ever this year with all that is going on in our world. We are not able to share supplies so I was able to share my supplies with my school. With all of these supplies our students could have some in school and at home. These supplies gave our students the chance to have their own supplies for work in school and when they were home and made it equitable for all. I am extremely grateful for all of you.”

Funded May 7, 2020This document camera gave my students the ability to watch the life cycle of ladybugs. I could have easily shown a video but it wouldn't have had the same impact for my students. It was the next best thing to being in a classroom and seeing it there. It was still real time and gave my students that first hand experience.
My students really enjoyed watching the lady bugs go through their life cycle and comparing them tothe butterflies they also learned about. Once the lady bugs emergered they loved watching them crawl around the container. It made my students curious about nature.”

Basic Supplies for Exceptional Science and Social Studies!
Funded Jun 20, 2018Thank you again for your generosity. The new markers, crayons, pencils and glue sticks have been used since day one of school. They have been used by so many smiling faces. We used them to fill out Science All about Me pendants to hang around the room. We also used them to fill out other getting to know you activities for class decorations.
The students were so excited to open brand new materials to create projects to decorate the room. They could not believe everything was donated. We do not need to worry about markers drying up or broken crayons.
All of these supplies will get us through the entire year. They will be used to record observations and predictions, draw pictures to show understanding and take notes. All of them will come in handy when we are creating projects throughout the year.”
