Ice, Ice, Baby!
Funded Dec 14, 2020We are excited to go back to hands on learning very soon. Covid-19 has wrecked hazards for our hands-on learning classroom. We are excited to get back to semi-normal this fall when we can really amp up our hands-on learning.
Students were excited to see the new equipment. We are excited to get started soon.
We are going to make clouds in a bag as our new lesson to our weather unit this spring.
Thank you to our generous donors that believe in hands-on learning. Without great donors like you, hands-on learning is very difficult to fund.
Thanks!”

Funded May 18, 2020Students were able to pick up their snacks during this past spring when our school district closed due to Covid-19.
Students were excited to pick up their snack packs from my porch. They were excited to get out of their houses and get some new snacks for distance learning. Teachers know that if students are hungry, they cannot learn.
Student have consumed all of the delicious snacks and look forward to our face to face learning currently. We are so excited that donors want to help our classroom and we are forever grateful!”

Science Experiments at Home!
Funded May 5, 2020My students are excited to continue their hands on learning for science at home with experiments from the science book. Students will be able to complete multiple laboratory experiments with materials found at home.
I wantedto allow students to read the science experiment book for enjoyment. I want to continue the joy and excitement of experiments while we are distance learning.
My youngest students, sixth graders, are the most excited for experiments and continued learning opportunities. My students throughly enjoy lab time while in the classroom and I am sure they will continue that love for science while at home thanks to this wonderful opportunity!”

Funded Sep 23, 2019My students enjoy using the new swivel chairs during tutoring and during regular class hours for incentives for working hard and improvement on assignments. My students enjoy how the swivel chairs have an adjustable height. The floor mat helps to keep our floor from scratching with so much use.
My students were eager to use them after my husband assisted me in the assembly of the swivel chairs. My students thought that the chairs looked very sleek and even asked when we were going to get more!
Our class intends to continue to use our swivel chairs daily and to eventually write another project for a taller table and more swivel chairs.
Thank you for helping support our project!”

Funded Oct 24, 2019I am able to provide pencils to students everyday for students that may need them. I am able to get students the basic materials such as pencils for daily use with our community pencil box. The pencil box is conveniently located by our assignment turn in box. Students do not have to ask for a pencil any more. They can just go over to the community pencil box and take what they need for the day.
Students are able to keep the pencil and get another tomorrow and the next day if needed. We want to make sure students do not have to think about having a pencil, but rather focus on what we are learning in science class.
I will continue to refill the community pencil box for all of my students thanks to this special project on Donors Choose.
Thank you for supporting our classroom.”

Funded May 4, 2019We are so thankful for the arrival of our document camera. A document camera is a camera that can stand up on its stand and is used to allow students to see what you are writing on a piece of paper in real time. It is like a video camera that projects to my Smart Board. This allows me to project worksheets to work along side students in real time with them on the same piece of paper.
My students enjoy the ease of seeing the work of mathematical problems in the science classroom as I model the step-by-step way to complete the problem. I have encouraged math teachers especially to get a document camera in their classrooms.
I am able to show all students visually what I am asking during my classroom. This has helped a few of my hard-of hearing students as well as students that need the references left on the Smart Board for later retrieval.
Thank you for supporting our classroom and project.”

Real World Knowledge With Literature: Round 2
Funded May 13, 2019We are so excited to get our first set of Science World Magazines! Science World magazines bring real-world science to the young learners in my classroom on their reading level. The articles within the magazine are always eye catching with their supportive graphics and pictures. Students are excited to read the "Gross Out" article of the month as they always make my kids say "That's gross!"
Science World magazine has an online component that is amazing! I have attached pictures of some of the features. Science World now can sync with my Google Classroom seamlessly! This is amazing. Quizzes are available for me online to send to my students with little effort but great learning opportunities for my students.
Thank you for supporting our classroom!”

Funded Aug 10, 2019My students are using our new resources to clean up their messes and the messes of others.
A student knocked over a water bottle that had Sprite in it. The student was told to figure out what type of cleaning supplies should be used. "Should we use the Clorox wipes or the paper towels and cleaning spray?" The student identified that the paper towels would soak up the Sprite better than the Clorox wipes. This was a win in my book! They used critical thinking for cleaning up their mess! This was the key component of our project!
Students clean all of our desks, door handles, and light switches everyday before the last bell rings for the day. We are cutting down our exposure to illnesses and bacteria. Students are using the Expo wipes to clear white boards when necessary.
Thank you again for supporting our project.”

Funded Oct 26, 2018Students are using our ramps and cars to determine where the most potential and kinetic energy are in a system before, during, and after a simulation. Students use the basketball goals to determine what angle is best for shooting a basketball into the hoop based off of how close or far away the basketball was from its target. How much force was applied to the basketball was also used to determine how distance was needed to shot the ball into the hoop.
My students were excited to see all of the boxes delivered to the front office with my name written on them. Students were eager to pick them up and bring them to my classroom. They were ready to play, experiment, as soon as the boxes were in my room.
We are excited to partner with an elementary class to teach them about how much force one will need to launch the basketball into the hoop. We want to reach out to our elementary students to get them excited for science just like we are!”

Funded Aug 23, 2018I am so excited that all of our materials have been delivered to our classroom. With help from my husband, I was able to put together the tutoring desk over a weekend. The students were excited to see it put together. They were eager to help put it together when it arrived; however, with the use of power tools and many, many screws, I told them I would build it over the weekend.
My students have used the tutoring desk on multiple occasions already for extra help during and after class. This space is essential for student-teacher collaboration.
The paper sorter has already being used to sort absent or incomplete work. The desk lamp allows for questions during activities while others watch short video clips.
Thank you so much for your support in funding our project!”
