I Want To Be A..........When I Graduate
Funded Nov 4, 2015The students were extremely ecstatic about the materials they received through donor choose. The project was named "I Want to ........ be a when I graduate" because they all wanted to do something different. They use the materials to practice their skills. They ask to use the materials every day.
The students received combination locks so they can get into lockers when they get jobs. The girls wanted to work in hair salons some they really enjoyed the mannequin heads and hands to practice on. Some of the students want to be servers so the table, tablecloth, silverware, napkins, and centerpiece came in handy. The Lego puzzles were for the males who wanted to work in construction.
All of the students enjoy working with their hands. They all use all of the materials and some of them are changing their minds about their choices in careers. Last Christmas, the students made Christmas cards for a senior living facility. Now our current project is to make handmade cards for all occasions. Thanks you so much Google for making my students exceptionally happy.”

Working to Work
Funded Sep 1, 2015Thank you so much for the donors. My class was able to purchase all of the supplies for our project. The students with special needs are using all of the materials that they received. The students know how to open their school lockers due to the combination locks they used for practice. They also know how to sew buttons on their shirts with the help of the sewing kits. The class really loves the cash register. Everybody wants a turn to count the money. The students don't even know they are learning how to count money. Thanks again.”

Funded Apr 4, 2014Thank you so much for funding the "Reading Rascals" Project. Your donations made the students in the self-contained special education class extremely happy. The students cannot get enough time with the books. We use the books for every core academic area.
For social studies, the students loved the story "Jackie Robinson and the story of all Black Baseball" by Jim O'Connor. They also created posters about Jackie Robinson. In science, the students enjoyed "Diving for Treasure" by John Christopher Fine and "The Popcorn Book" by Tomie de Paola. The students learned about popcorn, so they had to pop popcorn. They always answer comprehensive questions about some of the stories, as well as, research the authors for language arts. We did not receive any books pertaining to math; however, the students counted the 136 books and put them in alphabetical order when they clean up on Fridays.
I can go on and on about the projects we completed just because we have books to refer. The students are trying to read the books independently. They are also reviewing the books after lunch during leisure instructions. I cannot thank you enough for making my students and myself exceptionally happy. We are truly grateful for the donations to fund the "Reading Rascals Project."”

Funded Nov 27, 2013Thank you so much for funding the Cool Community Capers Project. Your donations have made my students in the classroom extremely happy. We use the LCD projector every morning along with News2You website to discuss the weather and daily news. Every Monday the students read newsletters such as "Black History Month," "The Winter Olympics," and "Steve Jobs." The LCD projector allows all the students to read and discuss the stories together.
The project also included a small laptop computer. Now all of the students can work on their own computer during computer lab time. One of the students stated that he can check his email in private. The Asus laptop is also a tablet. The students enjoy changing the laptop to a tablet and they think it is exciting. The students are reading more during their computer time. They do not realize that the games on the computer are educational.
Last but not least, the project also included a subscription to "Time (Magazines) for Kids." The magazine allow the students to read new information and discover amazing things. Just this month, the class read about Rudy Bridges. The students were surprise that Rudy was only 6 years ago when she made history. One of the students did not know that sea star (star fish) grew back their own arms. The students are trying to read the magazines on their own. While the students are reading, they are learning valuable information about science and social studies. The class and I are truly grateful for the donations to fund our project. Thank you again.”
