  • Pints of Glaze!

    Funded Dec 28, 2024

In my sculpture one and two classes we are in the clay unit. Each student will have four projects to glaze at the end of the clay unit.

Students are so excited to use the glaze to finish the projects up and take them home.

Students are experimenting, also with the glazes that I received from your donations. They are layering on glaze and also trying different combinations of glazes! Students faces are all smiles, and I can see their confidence building when they get their piece out of the glaze kiln.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Lemvo

  • Got Art Supplies?!

    Funded Aug 14, 2024

My Sculpture 1 students just finished paper mache animals with a Oaxacan style pattern design on them for Day of the Dead. First time in my teaching career that students have their own individual paint containers!

Students were so happy to have the paint containers. Now their paint doesn't dry out, less waste.

We are working on a mask project, in which students are using casting material and then painting on them with 2 different cultural symbols. First they had to research and then create the mask!”

  • Glazing, Glazing!

    Funded Apr 17, 2024

Thank you so much for giving to this project, "Glazing, Glazing!" I am truly blessed to be among those that like to give back to school/community!! Thank you!! My students and I are greatly appreciative!! And will benefit greatly from the materials received from this project."

The clay unit is my favorite unit to teach and the students love it too. When students finish making their clay projects, they want to glaze them. If they glaze their pieces, then they can eat or drink out of them.

Thank you so much for your kindness. We are forever grateful to your kindness and hope to pay it forward."”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Lemvo

  • Create in Intro to Art!

    Funded Dec 13, 2023

My students and I are using the new eraser blocks for the injustice project. Students carve out a design, using some new tools, an injustice.

Students were so excited to use the fresh, new blocks for this assignment. They clapped and cheered!

Well, students can keep their eraser block and push it in clay in the future when they get to the Sculpture 1 class. Also, students will be adding text to the blocks so their art work can be in an art show coming up here at our high school. The art show is called "Alphabet Soup," so it must include text.”

    With gratitude,

  • Glaze em'!

    Funded Oct 12, 2023

Students use the glazes right away after their pieces come out of the bisque (first firing!) Then, after they glaze their pieces, students get so excited when I open the kiln and they get to see their beautiful pieces with the glazes on them.

The students clapped when they saw all the glazes brought into the classroom.

Well, I teach the clay unit in Sculpture 1 and 2. The unit is about 11 weeks long and teach in a rotation. In Sculpture 2 the students learn new glazing techniques, like how to do a bubble glaze.”

  • Clay Unit

    Funded Oct 11, 2023

Every year I teach a clay unit to the Sculpture 1 and 2 students, usually around 12 weeks. It's my and the students favorite unit! When they first see the materials they clapped and are so excited to use the materials.

As for the next steps...I teach the clay unit in a rotation, so students do about 4 projects in total. Then, in Sculpture 2, it's also about a 12 week unit. Students build on what they learned in Sculpture 1 during the clay unit. Later on in their high school career, they can choose to take an AP 3D class and continue using clay.”

  • Got Bins!

    Funded Sep 6, 2023

Thank you so much for your generous donations! I have been teaching for a long time and have had so many clay projects dry out, get lost, and broken, because students have not had a proper place to put their projects. Now, two students at a time can share these clear plastic bins and store their project so they won't get ruined!

Also, what's nice is that I can use them year after year for my Sculpture 1 and 2, a P3D, and intro to art classes when we do the clay unit!

Thank you again for your generosity. It helps a lot in my classroom.”

  • Got Identity Boxes?!

    Funded Mar 17, 2023

Thank you so much for your generous donation! Students got so excited to see the plain, white boxes to turn into their own identity boxes! Then, used materials that I ordered that I posted on this website to add to their boxes. They used their 3-D art techniques. They used their knowledge of the skills that I taught them in this sculpture class like papier-mâché, popsicle sticks and casting material.

Students return years later and tell me how they still have their identity box from this class and they use it as a keepsake and keep materials in there as well.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Lemvo

  • Time to Create!

    Funded Dec 22, 2022

Well, students are using the materials in all the classes! For example, students are using the sewing machine in Advanced Placement 3D (AP 3D.) Other materials are being used in the Design and Sculpture classes.

Students always get excited when they first see the materials from the donations!

For the culmination, final project will be in Sculpture 1, an identity box. They will be using one of the techniques that they learned this year. That includes flower making, popsicle sticks, cardboard, newspaper, paper mache, casting...

    Thank you again!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Lemvo
