Engaging in team work and building relationship puts our students above and beyond academics at our school. We encourage connections, not only academically, but in a way that students connect and grow relationally to become productive citizens later. Students will use items such as hula hoops to work in teams to untangle their arms and pass on until all team members are loose. Other games are minute to win it style involving tennis balls, balloons, popsicle sticks and other items listed to race with and build STEM projects, all while earning a chance to win House Points. We are divided into house that represent Courage, Friendship, Creativity, and Wisdom. Honing these skills is necessary for our students to gain confidence in who they are and what they do both academically and behaviorally.
Our students are the driving force for building and maintaining community at our school. To support them, teachers and staff encourage friendly competition in Advisory to celebrate one another. The supplies requested give us the means to engage our students in friendly activities to build on their strengths and talents, while teaching cooperation and peer mentorship.
