  • Markers and Wipes Needed, Please!

    Funded Dec 7, 2018

Thank you for donating to our classroom project! Your donation will provide us with a supply of dry-erase markers, baby wipes, and disinfecting wipes that are needed and used every day. We have an independent work table stocked with dry-erase markers, boards, and erasers. The children can go there when not in a directed lesson with the teacher. They can use the markers to practice writing letters and words, and to be creative by drawing pictures with the colorful markers.

The baby wipes and disinfecting wipes will help to keep the classroom and our materials clean and fresh. This is so important when you have 24, four and five-year-olds in a room together, all touching and using the classroom materials. Keeping germs away will help prevent disease, which will lead to better attendance.

Thank you again for your generosity!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Lacour

  • Replicate It!

    Funded Oct 12, 2018

Thank you for your donation of a 3D printer to our classroom! It is a wonderful piece of technology, and we are thrilled to have one. We are able to use the MakerBot Print software to create new projects and to edit existing projects. My students are fascinated as they watch their project building layer by layer on the printer.

Our former 3D printer had served us well for many years. After building so many projects, it had reached the point where repairs and servicing were becoming too costly. This new MakerBot Replicator Mini will serve us well for many years. In addition, it has more convenient features, such as not requiring calibration every time you start a new project.

Even though my students are young, they can still learn the basic principles of operating the printer and selecting a project to build. We tie our monthly themes into the types of things we build with the printer, such as toy animals to create scenes during our animal unity, and replicas of cars and other vehicles during our unit on transportation. The looks on my students' faces the first time they watched the printer build something was priceless!

Thank you again for the gift of this awesome technology. You are the best!”

  • Discovering the Discovery Cube

    Funded May 8, 2018

Thank you for contributing to my classroom! Your donations enabled us to take a wonderful bus trip to the Discovery Cube Los Angeles. The Discovery Cube is an educational museum designed with kids in mind. Exhibits are interactive and hands-on. While there, we were able to learn about STEM topics such as recycling, weather, transportation, marketing, engineering, and many more! We took simulated helicopter rides over the city, experienced a tornado machine, sorted various recycled items coming through a conveyor belt, toured a home with modern day features designed to save energy and lots more. The children loved their trip and learned so much through the displays and exhibits. Thank you again for your help. This trip would not have been possible without your support!”

  • Discovering the Discovery Cube

    Funded Aug 22, 2018

Thank you for your contributions to our classroom! Your donations provided a t-shirt for every student in my room, identical t-shirts with our school logo on them. We will use these t-shirts every time we have a special event at our school, and every time we go on a class trip. We wore them on our first trip to Discovery Cube Los Angeles. The Discovery Cube is a children's museum dedicated to providing hands-on experiences in the STEM areas.

During our trip, the children participated in activities that promoted learning about weather, marketing, transportation, earth science, and many other topics. Having the t-shirts to wear gave them a sense of class unity and also help with supervision, as the children were easy to find with their new shirts on. Thank you again for your help in providing these shirts!”

  • Performances to Grow On

    Funded Jun 2, 2018

I am writing to thank you for the wonderful resources you helped to provide to my classroom. With your help, we received a camera, block rocker with a microphone, and a green screen lighting kit. These items will be used for music and little performances in which we act out familiar stories that we have read or listened to in class. My children love dramatic play and acting out stories. They especially love holding the microphone!

We are also using the block rocker and microphone for assemblies in which all the classes in the grade level meet for sing-alongs and concert practice. We are very grateful for your donations and for all your support in helping to bring these resources to our school.”

  • Quill to the Rescue 2018

    Funded Aug 22, 2018

Thank you for your contributions to my classroom. The students love their new dry erase markers. They have already spent hours drawing pictures, writing letters, numbers, and words, and just enjoying the beautiful colors and the chance to be creative. Unfortunately, dry erase markers are expensive and need to be replaced yearly. This makes it all the more special to have an organization such as DonorsChoose.org and thoughtful people such as yourselves that are willing to help provide these materials.

We also received Swiffer refill cloths, which are helping to keep our marker board center table clean and sanitary. Thank you again for your support. You are awesome!”

  • A Variety of Items for TK

    Funded Aug 15, 2018

I am writing to you today to let you know how grateful my students and I are for your generous donations to this project. With your help, we now have a wonderful area in our school garden to have science and environmental lessons outside. The core piece of this area is a picnic table large enough to seat 12 children. Here they can draw, write, and utilize manipulatives. We also received table covers, and other items needed throughout the year.

My students love their new outside learning area! We have spent time outside every day since we received our table and supplies from DonorsChoose.org. It is only with the kindness of donors such as you that I am able to provide the extras that make school fun and make learning come alive for my students. Thank you again for your support!”

  • Bringing Nature to Our Kinder-Garden Part 1

    Funded May 8, 2018

Thank you for supporting our class! Your donations have provided many wonderful items to improve our outside learning environment and generate student learning opportunities. Our new picnic table will be a place for outdoor lessons, playing, and snack time. Along with the picnic table, we received beautiful planters, gardening tools, soil, gloves a hummingbird feeder and nectar, and a new garden hose.

With these items, we will make our outdoor space beautiful and inviting, a place where everyone is welcome to come and enjoy the sights and sounds of nature. The children will learn how to care for the garden and develop a sense of responsibility and pride in the work involved in maintaining its beauty. Without your financial help, we wouldn't have the resources to do things like this for our students. Thank you again for your generous contributions!”

  • Help Us Stay Clean, Neat and Organized, Part 2

    Funded May 3, 2018

Thank you for your help in bringing much-needed cleaning and comfort supplies to our classroom. Your contributions have provided disposable gloves, Swiffer refills, and storage boxes. The disposable gloves are being used during meal times each day to keep germs from spreading amongst the children. They are also handy for toileting needs and when administering first-aid when bumps and boo-boos happen on the playground. The Swiffer refills have been a wonderful tool to have in the classroom because now that breakfast is eaten in the room every morning the floor can get very sticky and dirty.

The storage boxes are being used to organize and store reading books and math manipulatives for easy access by the children.

These items are necessary and need replacing constantly. Thank you again for your generosity in providing them for our classroom!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Lacour

  • Help Us Stay Neat, Organized, and Germ-Free!

    Funded Apr 28, 2018

Thank you for your contributions to my students. With your help, we now have a supply of items that will help us stay clean and healthy. Paper towels, baby wipes, hand soap, brooms, tissues and Swiffer refills are being used every day to wipe up dirt and keep germs away. The supply of Sterlite storage tubs is being used to store books and manipulatives that the children handle daily.

With these items, our classroom is a more welcoming place, and the children look forward to coming to school each day. A cleaner classroom is a healthier classroom, and attendance improves with children being out sick less often. Items such as these aren't glamorous or cutting edge, but they are essential to running a classroom on a daily basis. Thank you again for your generous support!”
