Thank you so much for your kind donation to our classroom. The books you helped provide for my students are being used as part of the social/emotional wellness portion of our daily classroom routine.
Many of my students benefit from direct instruction centered around learning to empathize with others, using coping skills to handle anger and other strong emotions, and learning to persevere through "hard things".
You may not know it, but you've had a profound effect on our classroom community, and you are so appreciated!”
We deeply appreciate your kind donation to our classroom. My students struggle with behavior and we work hard to restore and modify their behavior. Part of my classroom curriculum is completing community service projects around the campus. It has been so rewarding to see my students learning how their service changes the appearance of our campus. They soak up the compliments, and are now offended when they see others leaving trash on campus! Thank you for being a part of teaching my students that a job well done can lead to a sense of accomplishment and pride in their actions.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Nelson

My students have thoroughly enjoyed the books we received through our Know Better, Do Better! grant. Thank you for being a part of making this happen for my students. We have used the books so far to introduce social/emotional character traits for successful students. This promotes social awareness, problem-solving, and critical thinking, so students learn to understand themselves and others. These books have become a part of our daily group time at the end of the day, and they are perfect for getting students to look for ways the characters are like them. They can relate to conflicts the characters encounter, and discuss how they resolved the conflict in a positive way. These books have been wonderful for teaching my students how to stop and think about a situation, and to be proactive rather than reactive when encountering conflict.
Thank you so much for your kind doantion to our classroom!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Nelson

I teach 5th grade Language Arts Inclusion classes. My classes are made up of students who are working at several different ability levels. Our school is in a suburban setting that is located only a few miles from a high-crime urban area. My students face many challenges: many live in single parent homes, many are latch-key children with both parents working, and one third of my students generally receive free or reduced lunches.
