Integrating Seminar
Funded Feb 8, 2024Thank you so much for your help with this series of ten graduate courses. Because of you, I have almost earned a third Master's degree. I could not have done it without you.
This final course will allow me to synthesize everything that I have learned over the last two and a half years. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I have found this online program to be more rewarding than the in-person program I did at my local university. I have felt challenged and respected, supported and pushed. Thank you for everything.”

Testing Distractions
Funded May 8, 2024It's really difficult being a teenager. Having food available takes away one of the biggest obstacles that our students face: hunger. Thank you for your generosity, and thank you for supporting public school teachers and their students. Only a few more days of classes, then finals and state exams begin. This batch of yum yums will get us all the way through to the end.
Now, I don't suppose that you would be interested in helping me to clean out my classroom. So many years of accumulation. So many lovely memories. Thank you again for your help.”

Chekhov In Context
Funded Apr 29, 2024Thanks to TAS for getting me this book. Sometimes it's frustrating when we can't find the resources that we need to enrich our classroom. This book will allow us to challenge our advanced literature students in new ways. Now, if only I could figure out a way to take my entire class to see Chekhov's "Uncle Vanya" in New York City. I love Checkhov for so many reasons, not the least of which is his talent for showing the true Russian soul. Such despair. Such perseverance. Thank you again for all of your help.”

Climate Change in the Classroom
Funded Jan 2, 2024Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to attend this workshop. It was on climate change. I'm not sure how I feel about everything that is going on in our world, so it was nice to have a space to write about and discuss the issues. I found each of the sessions rewarding for different reasons. I was so exhausted by the end of the day that I immediately fell asleep on my couch when it was all over. This workshop came at the perfect time. I was feeling like I was in an intellectual rut. Thank you.”

Help Keep Us Alive!
Funded Apr 7, 2024Thank you so much for the continued support. It's nice to be able to feed students, especially in the afternoon. Children should never have to worry about food. I'm not sure why this is even an issue. I often catch flack from folks who think that giving out food creates bad habits for students. Oy. Children are children, and it is our job to take care of them and make sure that they are able to accomplish their goals. I appreciate your unwavering support throughout the years. We are grateful to you.”

It's Always Time for Tea
Funded Feb 19, 2024Tea Club comes every Friday. It's such a joyful time for the students and for me and my big barista, Joe. Tea Club is time for students to just relax and talk and laugh and be together. The only way that Tea Club happens is through the generous and ongoing support of donors like you. It's funny all of the things that they don't teach us in teacher school. At the top of the list is building relationships. At every Tea Club event I just walk around and say "hello." I also ask students what's going on in their lives. You should see their reactions when they feel like somebody truly wants to know about them. Tea Club is about so much more than just hot chocolate and cookies. It's about making students feel seen and heard and loved. Thank you. I couldn't do any of it with your help.”

Snack Haven
Funded Feb 29, 2024Thank you for your willingness to feed us all the time. As I mentioned for a similar project, the snack basket is closed for Ramadan. Not only does this pause give all students an opportunity to acknowledge Muslim tradition, but it also gives everyone an opportunity to be grateful for what they have. Saying thank is a habit that not everyone has. Anyway, I'm grateful to you for always reaching out in support of public school classrooms. Sometimes it feels like we are in a fight with everything.”

Writing With AI
Funded Jan 2, 2024Thank you for supporting this professional development opportunity. I actually swapped workshops at the last minute with one of the newer teachers in our department. She attended the AI workshop and I attended the active listening workshop. We each shared all material, so it was kind of a two-for-one. She was so excited about AI that switching with her seemed like the good thing to do. No regrets. That's not true. I regret that I never have enough time to do absolutely everything. Thank you for helping me to do as much as I can.”

Restore Us
Funded Feb 29, 2024Thank you for the supplies. As you can see by the photos, we are taking a little break in honor of Ramadan. (Of course, I still have food in the cupboard for any emergencies.) I thought it would be nice for students to step back and just be grateful for what they have. Sometimes students take without saying thank you. That's not good. So many things about teaching are never taught in teacher school. Human relationships and social emotional development are among those topics. Thank you for helping me to support our students in so many different ways.”

Wash Day Diaries
Funded Feb 8, 2024It's important for students to see and experience a variety of perspectives. Wash Day Diaries features the friendship of two black women. Throughout the book, the women also talk about their hair. The author and illustrator dedicates several full pages to the act of hair washing. The panels are detailed and beautiful. A celebration of beauty and culture. It's a delightful choice for students in my graphic novels course. I have a few extra copies that I will also make to students in our diversity cafe. Thank you so much.”
