I have students who depend on me each day to administer there medication whether it is taken orally, inhalation, or by injection. These medications are kept here at school and unfortunately I have run out of room to keep their medications at school in a safe location. I have over seven hundred children in my school and there are about sixty of them that are taking medications on a daily basis.
An additional medicine cabinet that locks will help to store the medication at school safely. Additionally, the equipment requested will allow me to properly perform health exams, as well as assessments. This includes a Tanita scale, disinfecting wipes, a fingertip pulse oximeter, and a thermometer temperature gun.
These children are from low income/high poverty inner-city neighborhoods and rely heavily on the school nurse to perform these assessments. It would make a world of a difference if the supplies needed were available to keep the students healthy. After all being healthy is contagious!
