Enraptured Readers Ready for Summer
Funded May 29, 2021Thank you so much for your contribution to this project. My students have worked so hard over this crazy school year, and been so resilient with all of the changes that have occured. I am beyond proud of them and felt that they deserved to end the year with something that acknowledged their growth.
Every year our students have a choice book to read over the summer, as well as a required book for the grade they are entering. As a result of your generosity, my students will be able to take home an option for a choice book, as well as their required book. They will also have some "extras'' that will help bring more enjoyment to their reading. As it will be difficult for some of my students to do their summer reading, due to family situations or reluctance to read, being provided with the book is setting them up for success.
Even though this year has tested us like no other, I hope my students will remember all of the bonds and joy that has also come out of it.”

Funded May 26, 2021Thank you so much for funding this project. As soon as I saw a video of another teacher using the bubble poppers to teach phonics, I knew it would be a fun and interactive way to engage my students in decoding/encoding activities. When my students and I practice sounding out new words, we are using the bubble poppers to "tap out" that sounds that we hear. This strategy helps the students by reinsourcing strategies to help hear the sounds in words they do not know.
My students have been very into the bubble poppers as a fidget in recent months, and were so excited to see a stack of them in our reading class. It was eye opening for them to see that not only could they use the poppers as a fidget, but also as a tool to them with reading. Many of my students are comfortable bringing them to their classes as a reading tool, since they and so many of their peers have similar ones they use as fidgets.”

Funded Oct 22, 2020I cannot thank you enough for your support and your donations. This year has quite different than anything myself or my students have ever experienced, and I have spent much of time time both in awe of the flexiblity and perserverance of my students, and wondering how I can support my students mental health and physical needs in the classroom. I anticipated the standing desks and seat cushions would work perfectly to support fidgety students and help them focus on their studies. What I did not anticipate was the excitment the students had to recieve the packages, as well as the new items. It made being in school more exciting, and it helped us bond as a class. So thank you donors. Thank you for giving my students learning options. Thank you for giving them the tools to advocate for when they need a change. Thank you for helping bring us together as a class.”

Funded Oct 18, 2019Thank you so much for donating the document holders to my students. Many of my students have difficulty in writing, as well as tracking their written work when they are working with written work and typing, simultaneously. These document holders have made it so much easier for my students to type in notes and rough drafts, because they are able to see and track what they are doing with much more ease. The students have enjoyed being able to choose which document holder works the best for them, as well as having this resource available to them whenever they feel they need it.
We have also noticed that there are many other opportunities for the use of these document holders. Some students use them to hold copies of my notes for them to copy, or to hold up other organizers and visual aides they are using for a given task. Still, other students have used them as screens, when they want a little bit more privacy or separate space as they are working.
Overall, these document holders have been an invaluable addition to our classroom resources.”

Expanding Our Reading Options
Funded Oct 13, 2019Thank you so much for contributing to my project. Many of my students are struggling and reluctant readers. As their teacher, I continuously try to find new books that pique their interest, while also continuing to be at a reading level accessible to them. Finding a book or a series of books that interests them, makes them so much more invested in learning to become a better reader. I have found that the students have been excited by so many of these books because they have characters who they can relate to. The contribution of these new to my library has opened so many doors for my students and has encouraged them to keep reading, as well as to push themselves as readers.”

Creating Reusable Resources
Funded Aug 23, 2019Thank you so much for contributing to my project. As a special education teacher, it is so important to be able to have access to a variety of tools and strategies to help my students be successful in all of their classes. The colored paper will help me create vivid visuals that will be easily recognizable for my students to pull out as they need them. The laminator will help ensure that these important aides will last throughout the year. Being able to learn what resources are helpful and advocate for those resources is an important skill for these students to learn. The addition of these resources to our learning environment is invaluable.”
